I’ve been traveling more on the tracks these days. The savings, compared to driving, is incredible! For what it’s worth, traveling via public transport is definitely more economical for Singaporeans.

What about the time spent on the tracks compared with driving?

That depends on where you start and end. I'm lucky to be near 2 MRT stations. Time-wise, the further you want to go, the longer you need to spend, usually around 2-3 times that of driving. But you get to close your eyes in the train or do your own things lor... stuff you cannot do when driving 😂

In the town where my daughter is studying in the UK, the bus fare starts at GBP2.80 per trip!

I prefer public transport to driving, and just try not to pack my activities and appointments too tightly. My husband insists that I drive at least once a week to keep in practice, though. I will probably have to drive more when my parents need to be ferried around.

I feel the public transport cost is high as I need to top up (each time $10) my ezlink card very often. A short trip out of the house is easily $1+.
I do agree that the taxes collected should be used to help the old, sick and needy.

Well, we continue to work to pay taxes to help the less fortunate 😄
all the ERP gantries around singapore bring in $3 million a day.
taxes collected, if used to help old, sick & needy would be great. the question is, are they?

last I read maybe a couple of years back is about $150 million per year. Even if it has doubled that would be less than $1 million per day.
