Same here. I like PTM because there’s a personal touch. Can speak face to face. Sometimes via email or phone calls can misinterpret the tone or meaning (both parties).

I also use PTM to convey my thanks and sorrys to the teachers for their long-suffering (I know my son’s personality is never a model student/Teacher’s pet). This type of Sorry if given by email will sound too trite. Need personal sincerity.

Term 1 has been stressful...dread to think of Term 2.

although I was informed there would be no mid year exam, it seems the girls prefer to have it instead of weekly tests. daughter told me she prefers weekly tests because it keeps her on the ball and the topics tested are bite sized instead of one whole chunk as in mid year.
If mid-year SA1 May exam constitute zero % weigtage, it is ok, because won't enter into Report card. Stress comes only, if it is weighted, eg. 100 % weightage, from SA1

mid year exam will never be 0% weightage…it’s either 30% or 40%.

if the school does away with mid year and have weighted tests instead, then all these graded tests will add up to final year exams.

I would like to meet my daughter’s teachers…unfortunately, many of them are form teachers of other classes. so it would be difficult to do so.

            I see.

Maybe primary & Secondary schools dont have zero percentage, for SA1.

But some primary schools P6 students do have zero percentage weightage for P6 CA1, although they are still taking the chunky content CA1 papers, this week #9

One week holiday break starting on Saturday 16 March to Sunday 24 March

Term 2 resume on Monday 25 March to Friday 31 May

so your dd prefer weekly bite size tests right? then isn't it less stressful compared to chunky Mid year SA, u no need stress lar since dd is ok

her preference alone is insufficient. if the majority of the girls prefer to have mid year and voice it to principal, then I am concerned she might decide to switch to having mid year exam. so far the school did not hold a briefing for parents with daughters in sec 3.

Minister strongly encourages no mid yr for sec 3 - sch who are doing mid yr , their P need to report and justify to their cluster Supt for good reasons .(tats what i know fr teachers i know)

the 1 week march holidays is a ‘small’ reward after tests. the 1 month June holiday is a longer reward after stressful mid year exam.
