Do you mind share which link show \"most JCs\" got 85?
Is this good results? Saw from the other link, most JCs got 85? -

Could be anything from 83.1-83.9
A few listed JCs with mean UAS 84-85?
If you exclude the two big giants RI/HCI, I only see DHS on the list with mean UAS 84. And I won’t be surprised if it is 83.9 or 83.8 correct to 2 significant figures.
DHS already reported 44.8% 3 H2 distinctions as “almost 50%”
It’s all how the school wanna present the data to look ‘nicer’.
Eg. 3 in 10 can also be reported as about 1 in 2 :boogie: -

Possible that DHS mean UAS may not necessary be exactly 84 as claimed. Similarly for HCI when someone said the mean UAS = 85, it could also be anything from 84.1-84.9. If HCI mean = 84.1, and NJC mean =84.3, then NJC mean UAS is even higher than HCI

! Perhaps historically for RI(JC), its median > mean, but we cannot say for sure this is the same for all other schools unless we know their \"history\" of A level means and medians to make that claim.
In sum, without full information, we can twist, say and interpret however we want, so fun

What is the definition of mean (average) UAS, in Junior College ?
-
Max UAS = 90. It consists of 3H2 + 1H1(worst H2 downgrade to H1) + GP + PW.
So 3X20 + 10 + 10 + 10 = 90. Those got 8 or 9 dist, probably they take 2H3 + including HMT. To take 2 H3 subject needs the approval of MOE, so only probably RI or HCI can produce such results. EJC does not hv students taking 2 H3, so max for them is 8 dist.
As a parent, i felt relieved after they announced the results. It was not bad considering the fact that it was the first batch of ip students from 3 feeder schools and they formed ejc first batch of jip students with jae students. Everything started from scratch. The effort was commendable.
I do not think we should focus so much on mean UAS. By being in a school with high UAS doesnt automatically earn one a place to get the score, its still ownself’s effort and motivation to make use of the resources to try to excel in A levels. It clearly proved that ejc can also produce high achievers with good no. of distinctions. They already produced a handful of jc scholars and they will go on to produce their first batch of uni scholars. -

It is heartening to see some positive feedback from EJC parents.Being a parent of an IP student from one of the feeder schools,I was waiting for A levels results very badly as I chose EJC over VJC.My daughter was very much interested in going to the IP track of other school that leads to VJC.She has to travel almost 1 1/2 hours to VJC but EJC is just 1/2 an hour from my place.I am feeling relieved that I made the right choice for my Girl.

:rahrah: Choosing a school should be based on fit, and distance is a very important factor too!

I had dinner with my friends last night, one of them was a Chemistry teacher from RI...
He also said there were no fewer than 3 teachers that had left RI for EJC from the Science dept.[/quote]Perhaps your students and parents can nominate these super tutors from the Science dept for President's Award for Teachers (PAT) next Jan. Bear in mind this JC doesn't attract Olympians if I'm not wrong.
33% As for FMaths is very good considering this IPJC has a disproportionate no of male students (pardon my assumption that males are better in FMath and higher).
Not sure about the std of its Humanities dept. -

Yes yes, EJC performed much better than the Mid Tier JC, thats for sure.

For F Maths, 33.3% As is it very good?
Just based on 2017 A level ( not yr 2018 as I dont have it ), National Avg % A was 42.2%.
Yr 2018, EJC has 75% from full IP kids who took A level last year, only 25% is from JAE.
It should have produced better Maths including its H2 Maths results.
Check out other JCs Maths results as shared by others.
Public will know which JCs are consistent or improving on their results as time goes by.
