      Grandyma:

Yes yes, EJC performed much better than the Mid Tier JC, thats for sure.
For F Maths, 33.3% As is it very good?
      Just based on 2017 A level ( not yr 2018 as I dont have it ), National Avg % A was 42.2%.

Yr 2018, EJC has 75% from full IP kids who took A level last year, only 25% is from JAE.

It should have produced better Maths including its H2 Maths results.
Check out other JCs Maths results as shared by others.

Public will know which JCs are consistent or improving on their results as time goes by.
We are not sure, how is EJC standard of her Humanities side.

My relative’s daughter is from HSP ( Humanties class). Everyone except 2 got full distinctions.

One of the teachers teaching her also won the MOE Teacher of the year award

That's excellent results! HSP consists of students receiving the Humanities Scholarship, which itself also meant that the students under this program were already academically strong to be selected into this program. How did the other students from Arts stream at EJC do for the A levels?

I had my worries when ejc was to be started in mount senai. I pondered over our decision when my dd was in sec 4 because if she was in o level track, she would hv no issue to go hci/ri. However, my girl is doing fine in ejc and ejc has fair share of good and not so teachers, just like any other jcs. Some of their lecturers/tutors are ‘famous’ like David Hoe. A lot of them said he is a good inspiring econs teacher. Ejc is already starting well for humanties as they have quite a handful of humanities scholars. A director of a famous tuition centre which is quite popularly attended by hci/ri students shared that ejc has the most number of humanties scholars, even more than hci. I am not sure if this is one of the direction by moe to groom the students there. At least i think their results should meet the expectation of the school. It is important that ejc works towards bringing up the potential of their students including the jae students. Does it matter if cop is 9-11pts and lose out to some non ip jc or mean UAS is not as good as compared with other ipjc for first batch of students? As long as i know if my girl continues to work hard, she will be able to excel and given equal opportunities as other top tier ipjcs if one would like to call them. They get to attend a lot of programs/seminars/talks as part of the effort to groom them. For weaker students, they also have extra program to help them. At least i do not regret my choice to support my girl for her decision to study in the feeder school that leads to ejc. I remember my girl told me her senior got U for one of the subject in jc1mye but eventually she got A in A level and 7dist. So as long as one is willing to work hard, anything is possible in any school, be it ipjc or non ipjc. 加油!

Inside the entire cohort, amongst these 3 subjects, H2 (History, Geography, English Literature), which is EJC strongest Humanities subject, and which is the least strong ? Is History, the least strong ?

I think EJC did very well. With a mean UAS of 82.x, taking into accounr its COP was 10 previously, it is really value-adding compared to the other JCs whose COP was single digit

With this good results and the fact that it is moving back to Bishan Park in a brand new midern campus, i think the COP for next year intake will rise tremedously

Plus when the new Bright Hill MRT station opens in 2020, COP will even go up further?

I think there is some truth in it. I remember when EJC was set up, MOE was trying to break the stranglehold and dominance that RI/HCI has over the years. Both of which are independent and may be deemed elitist

Any coincidence that EJC is not independent?

I guess they kind of lost hope” in NJC and VJC who over decades has never been able to dent the dominance of the top 2?

Did you see my personal assumption in my parenthesis regarding this JC's lopsided demographic? You don't have to agree with me.

Is 25% small? I don't know what's the percentage of JAE students absorbed by other IPJCs. May I know if their 25% JAE entrants of Class 2017 were single-pointers?

Aren't the 75% full IP kids having around the same median T-scores as those absorbed by RV, NJ, DH, TJ? I have higher expectations for the latter 4, especially RV and DH with 100% IP, to perform better as they are more established and in situ for 6 years.

I suppose like you said the public will know if JCs are consistent as time goes by. No need to be too demanding on the pioneers, if you get what I mean. Manage your expectation and congratulate the newest kid on the block.

But schools like RV has no O level class. So they really have to work very hard to push everyone of them up. And someone else mentioned in other thread, the attrition rate for rv is very low. Very few or no students leave rv.
