《画皮》- 知人知面不知心！


My DD2 went for the 《画皮》musical at Esplanade last evening. She and her classmates enjoyed it very very much!

Earlier she missed the 《哈姆雷特》performance but her classmate who went told her Hamlet was much more confusing and difficult to understand.

The creative writing classes are conducted by famous author 尤金, very interesting and my girl enjoys them. Think there are 3 more lessons to go.

All these programs for students who earlier DSAed under Bilingualism seem to work for my girl. I find her command of spoken mandarin has improved significantly. Maybe it’s really the case of 多听、多讲！

Maybe. Some of the things she taught are useful and she keeps promoting being original/refreshing.

Asked the class to 打个比喻 like “我的妈妈像什么?” Girls take turn to come out with ”我的妈妈像麻雀” or “我的妈妈像水”

One girl she ever taught before wrote “我的妈妈真美味”. She thought the girl wrote wrongly, was it 真美丽？Then realize the girl trying to say her mum is like a bowl of fishball noodles. Big round eyes like fish balls and silky long hair like yellow mee. And she’s a hawker selling noodles, who would always secretly give more noodles and fish balls to the needy.

But my girl said she is unlikely to apply it such techniques as she deems herself not good enough to do that yet. I told her that it’s ok, maybe she can do it by the time she goes to upper secondary.

Hi,

Last year, some girls called for the donation of school uniforms/PE attire.
Collection boxes were put up near canteen but that was at end of academic year. (Oct to “O” level HCL paper for sec 4 students), so they may not be available as of now.

If the school uniforms are in good condition, maybe yr girl can approach the GO to ask if they want to take them? If I am not wrong, the girls can borrow the school uniforms from the GO when needed.

I was privilleged to attend the nygh annual awards ceremony day on Fri (1st Mar). I was impressed by the various types of scholarship awards given to students.


I was amazed when I saw academic scholarship & CCA talent scholarship given to 2019 Sec 1 students, based on their outstanding 2018 PSLE results & also their CCA achievement during pri school.
For these group of Sec 1 students, I believe they will also receive awards at their pri school awards day.
NYGH budget for scholarship is unbelievable.

Yes, indeed unbelievable! Not only for Sec 1 (2019), there are alot of awards for Sec 1 to Sec 4 (2018) for achieving good academic awards, cca, community service, all-rounder etc. Those students who graduated to Hwa Chong JC - JC1 (2019) also came back to receive their awards for their excellence achievement at Sec 4 (2018).


The last session whereby the most prestige awards given to Top IP student - Loh Yuan En, Jolyn who received Ling Siew May Scholarship & Model student - Zhang Junfang, who received Liew Yuen Sien Scholarship. The 2 students were invited to make a speech to the audience about their school journey, the opportunities given, their aspirations & motivations etc.. These 2 students' parents were even invited to the stage with their daughters. That must be the most touching moments for the 2 proudest parents!

The school was also thoughtful to prepare a rose with a laminated note \"Your love is my greatest support\" for all awards receipients to be given to us parents at the end of the ceremony. I applauded the school for going to such extend to make the girls appreciating their parents, on top of receiving their well-deserve awards. 👍👍👍
