      Hi Parents,

I will like to seek your advice.
What will be the chance of st. margaret going into balloting for SC staying within 1-2km this year? We are considering to register for my gal. Thank you in advance.

Is the massive construction works at RVPS is concern? In addition to the current condo construction in front of the school, pacific mansion is enbloc and demolition is going to start real soon.

I am ok with loud noises (I believe there are guidelines to minimise disturbance to the school) but dust and mosquitoes may be hard to control. I have made a temporary shift out last time when thereโ€™s new condo development in front of my place. The spread of dengue and mozzie bites are so intolerable, we kept windows close, uses spread and stick on mozzie patches. These construction will last for the next 3-4 years.

And also the student care in pacific mansion is closed due to the enbloc. Any other recommendations around Orchard or RV? Anyone knows if the RV school bus serves Newton area? Thanks in advance

Most likely there will be balloting within 1-2km this year. You can call the school on the last day of the registration to find out the numbers. Then you can make the decision.

The chance will be good based on previous yrs (2014 to 2017) of historical records. All SCs are accepted & PRs have to ballot.
            U can take a look at https://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/article/central/

Do take note SMPS will move to MacPherson Pri in 2020 & 2021 due to major upgradings & reno.

Phase 2C : St Margaret primary, is now left with 88 vacancies

              https://www.moe.gov.sg/admissions/primary-one-registration/vacancies#Central

one P1 class size is 30

              take (88 / 30) equal 2.9 classes left for students, to come in. That's a lot !

forsee balloting for SC > 2 km, at Phase 2C (St Margaret), this year, on Wednesday (8 August 2018)

Rgps, is left with 114 vacancies, more vacancies than 88 (St margaret).

I'll monitor and call the school to ask the breakdown on last day. Hope that they will entertain call ๐Ÿ™‚
Like what most ppl said, this year is a dragon yr and it's very competitive, really dont know if there will be 'surprises'

if St Margaret had been a co-ed school, there might be \"surprises\".

However, since St Margaret is an \"All-Girls\" school : with 2.9 classes left, still quite a lot of seats left, SC staying (1 to 2 km) should be safe.

                  Moreover,

                  a)
some parents may not choose St Margaret this year, because they do not like the 2 years temporary shift location at Macpherson primary.

                  b)
some parents may be diverted to ballot at Rgps direction, try their luck instead, as there are more vacancies left there (114 vac) vs. St Margart (88 vac).

And also, this year MOE had provided many more readily available back-up schools under 2C Supp. So, parents (with girls) do not mind balloting at 2C.

Anyway, continue to monitor situation closely on last day of 2C after 2.45 pm and action accordingly, to situation. All the very best to your daughter ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks zacโ€™s mum! How about phase 2B - does SC also get priority over PR in balloting?
