3 SA1 CL picture compo topics so far:
      - Boy saw a bag on MRT station platform, thought there might be a bomb in it
      - Boy (while on his way to have his meal) helped old man who fell down
      - Mother brought son to playground after having meal at fast food restaurant, while Mother was engrossed with her hand phone, stranger approached boy with toy car, boy disappeared from playground

I read from somewhere - to avoid writing topic on kidnap, terrorism, murder etc ... it is too much for a kid to handle .., story development, ending etc ?

Yup, extreme cases like death and murder should be avoided.

For that particular picture compo, it was only in the 5th picture that showed the boy's thought (that there might be a bomb inside the bag) via thought bubble and in the helping words there's \"alert\". Since there's only 1 \"picture\" left, the ideal ending will be the boy reporting the case, ended up being a false alarm but got praised for his alertness. 🙂

        Hi follow parents,

MOE has released the Sec 1 posting results tentative dates. This year's dates - 20, 23, 24 Dec 19 seem to be different from past year's trends. 😞 I've just booked the air tickets for the holidays & it seems I may have to make changes. 😞 Though MOE mentioned the dates are tentative, does anyone know in the past years if there's any changes made to the tentative posting results dates or did it just fall on any of the mentioned dates?
        https://www.moe.gov.sg/education/national-examinations/national-exams-timetable
        Hi mumof2lads,

For last year (2018) batch, born 2006 -
psle results were released on Thursday (22 November 2018), at 11 am. P6 students came back in their school uniform (wore their primary school uniform, for the last time). Many were nervous, seated inside school hall anxiously, according to their p6 classes, awaiting for principal to come on stage, announced overall cohort school performance. Eg. Principal may said, \"This year, you all did very ... \"

In some schools, principal may call out the names of honor roll, one by one : p6 pupils who scored above 260, above 270, etc. to go up the stage, took group photograph.

22 November 2018 was a Thursday, because 24 November was a Saturday, and there were a few secondary schools that held (conducted) open house, immediately following the release of PSLE results.

May refer 2018 (last year) psle released news announcement report

        https://thenewageparents.com/psle-results-release-date-secondary-1-posting-date/

Hence, if this year (2019) batch, born 2007 (piggies), were to follow the same as last year's pattern, then very likely, 2019 psle results could be released -

Either on Thursday (21 November 2019), or on Friday (22 November 2019), reason being :
some secondary schools will be conducting open house, on Saturday (23 November 2019).

If you & your child happen to be overseas, on (21 or 22 ) November 2019 : may write a letter of authorisation to request your family member to collect Psle results, on behalf of your child. You can email your child's form teacher beforehand, notify class form teacher first that u are away on overseas holiday trip, hence write a letter of authorisation, get your family member to collect results. Results will be released, via class form teachers, around 11 am (morning)

          Psle marking scheme

          Psle marking dates : ( 14 to 17), October, 2019.

For psle science, the examiners marked strictly : no more half mark (ban).
Either zero or 1 mark, for open ended science section answers.

How about psle (maths / languages) ?

Do they still give (award) half mark, for psle

          - open-ended " comprehension / li jie wen da " section, or to

          - maths paper 2 problem sums (structured questions), or to

          - paper 1 languages (zuowen / English composition) ?

Another SA1 CL picture compo question this year:
              - Boy received call while doing work, lied to Mum he's going out to study with his friends (actually went to join them for soccer), Mum saw them playing while on her way to do grocery shopping

Usually it's the first day of the tentative dates barring any unforeseen circumstances.

You will receive the sms from 6am onwards, so just bring along ur sim card.

However, registration starts the next working day (so 26 Dec will be abit too late) so you will need to appoint a proxy to the sec sch n collect the book list etc.

Books and uniforms can settle slightly later but run the risks of some might oos.

There are also cases of appeals and transfers within the next few days and also optional hcl entrance exams for those who dont qualify during psle but want to try during sec sch.

Will be a few busy weeks until kids settled into their sec sch.

wow, no more half mark for science open ended. why? as if life is not tough enough for open ended.

so its black or white, either you know or don’t know marking style? my child’s open ended is actually quite good but i still wonder what is the direction of primary science.
So if photosynthesis spelling is wrong for eg, concept is right, therefore no marks??

                      - good people do good deeds (hao ren zuo hao shi), eg.

                      - help a blind man cross the road, or
                      - help an old lady pick up oranges that dropped out from a broken, plastic bag, or

                      - bad people do bad deeds, or learn a lesson out of an incident or mischief
E.g. a naughty boy throw a stone at a nest of birds, frightened them until they fly out of the nest.

For psle (normal Chinese picture zuowen, not the ming ti zuowen) -
are fire accident, car accident, drowning accident, kidnap, terrorism, natural disaster zuowen topics, found within our p6 moe Chinese zuowen syllabus ?

                        Hi chenlaoshi,

Do you have the list of anticipated topics on your website? Do you sell online resources?

                        Hi sweetbaby,

A brief list of topics can found in the link in my previous post. I haven't done so but will try to release them during/after the week of my June holiday workshops. 🙂

In summary, 4 of the topics that has came out in 2019 SA1 are:
                        - 懂得为别人着想(图书馆)
                        - 帮忙做家务
                        - 户外学习
                        - 注意安全(组屋区)

Interestingly, one of the schools' SA1 oral this year tested the students using 2018's PSLE video - 友谊(互相帮忙、学). This + another school testing on 懂得为别人着想(图书馆)+ past year oral videos not available in the 3 years series: won't be surprised if the videos get recycled in the future for Pri 5/6 school exams.[/quote]One more to add to the list: 学习新科技 (advantages of technology, how technology can add in learning process).
