RV doesn’t receive students as good as VJ, DHS etc. But their A level results are comparable or may even be better.
RV has always been a much value-added school. As a parent, I’m more concerned if the sch can value add to my child. From the results posted on the school website, I think it’s clear they have done a good job.
This JingleBell girl is probably a little too self-entitled and stubborn.[/quote]
Yes, we know RV did well for 2018 exam.
Some forummer already said RV takes in P6 kids with medium 254 and not all are only 250-252.
These kids are still the top 3~5% of the P6.
They are expected to perform way above average if not well in A level exam.
Prior to 2018 latest A results, RV past years results should have been better as it takes in the top 3-5% P6 kids. But its actual past A level results did not match the expected results.
Prior 2018 results, its results are not better than VJC, DHS and behind non IP JC.
Eg 2017, RV got abt 37% with 3H2 % A and above IP JCs and non IP JC scored higher.

Possible that RV PSLE mean is 254. Since their COP is lowest among IP schools, there mean is also likely lowest among the IP schools. Non-IP JC like NYJC, ACJC JAE COP is just after the top 3. These JAE intake are equal if not better than the IP students.
MOE used to announce ranking and value addedness many years ago. They have some algorithm using input(PSLE/JAE) and output(A Level results) to compute the value addedness. Absolute results (no. of top scorers, % 3 H2 A, mean UAS, etc) provide just one view. One can also look at how much value add the school achieve which I think is an even more important factor.

            2. We would like to congratulate our graduates on the following achievements:
99 (26%) of the cohort obtained 6 or more distinctions
182 (48%) of the cohort achieved at least 3 H2 distinctions
99% of the cohort scored at least 3H2 + GP Pass
99.2% of the students attained at least 4H2 + GP Pass
48 (13%) of the cohort attained a perfect score of 90 rank points
            216 (57%) students attained a score between 85 and 90 rank points
37 students scored 7 or more distinctions
            62 students scored 6 distinctions

            70% > RP 85
            80% > RP 80

48% with 3 H2 Distinctions- this figure doesnt include pass in GP. Right?

            Data from school website
            Correction for UAS:

            UAS=90 : 13%
            USS 85-90:57%
            UAS>80: more than 80%

Anyway, public include potential students are aware of well known colleges' academics.
As long RV continues to maintain its results like RI,HCI,DHS or produce improving results like NYJC, then :xedfingers:
Take note college environmemt eg looking after students' well being/welfare plays a part in selection of school too. These days, the Gen Z looks into such factor when they choose college. Old school of thought doesnt work in this era.

Wah… suddenly RV in the limelight after A Levels results. The P being labelled "new" few years back, has got some solid foothold. Its not the best yet, but is upcoming. Last year president scholar is a morale boaster. With intakes of year 5, next two year is pretty anticipating for all. DDs choose school based on COP. No need jjww branded or distance. So now one wakes up at 5, the other at 7.
