Best? Probably Mee Toh - the only one with an established history.
Hi,
My #1 also will be registering p1 in 2020.
I wonder which school is better in punggol.
There are few schs within 1km, list below from the nearest to the furthest
Greendale pri (balloting history under p2c)
Mee toh (balloting history under p2c)
Horizon (balloting history under p2c)
Oasis (no balloting)
Waterway (no balloting)
Rivervale (balloting history under p2c)
I personally prefer horizon coz it would be a moe kindy in the school, so when my #2 gg to k1, I dun have to worry much about balloting again for him.
But I'd like to seek second opinions here about which sch is better among these few.
I couldn't find any reviews about pri schs in punggol.
The rest? Same same; cookie cutter.
Greendale has never balloted in Phase 2C and the last time it balloted was 2015 for Phase 2Cs (before the influx of all the newer primary schools).
If you are aiming for the MK, you will be better off applying to Horizon since the new policy will almost guarantee #2 a spot if your #1 is in the primary school. Greendale MK would be opening in 2021 and Oasis / Waterway have existing MK. These can be your backup if you don’t succeed in the ballot for Horizon. -
Hello parents,
My son is born in 2014 and will be in P1 in 2021. The thing is there is no sch within 1km from our residential area…can i check if 2C phase will they see address? If i do PV can i do 2 schools, since PV doesnt guarantee a place? What if 2C balloting we didnt get? Totally clueless on how these works. -

They will look at your address for EVERY phase. If there’s no school within 1km, you just have to aim for one that’s < 2km or > 2km as long as you think there’s a possibility of you getting in. If you don’t succeed in Phase 2C, you move on to Phase 2Cs and choose from the schools that have places.

You can PV at any number of schools as long as you have the time to do it. There are minimum targets (hours) that you have to fulfill before you are eligible. -
A friend, SPR got her son into a very popular school in the west through PV, wasn't staying <2km either. There was just not many people in the phase 2b phase for this school, don't know why, maybe everyone flock to HPPS and the other famous all boys and girls school. That was before they implemented reserve 20 seats for phase 2b and phase 2c though.

Hi parents, hoping someone can help.
I’m planning to move for my girl’s primary school. She will fall into 2C. Currently thinking of two options:
1. Move near rgps. I have a few friends moved nearby <1km, and get in. But of course the housing is much more expensive. And I’m unsure if there is any backup school if anything goes wrong. Also, given that we don’t have a car, the place may be a bit inconvenient.
2. Move to tpy. Looking at peichun / Marymount. Looking for peichun <1km and Marymount 1-2km (very few blocks overlap for both within 1km). Personally I like the area much more. My original plan is to try PC for phase 2c and Marymount for 2c plus. But given Pei Chun has reduced the intake from 360-330-300; phase 2c <1km balloting chance is <50% as of 2018. Anyone knows if the intake will remain as 300 for the next two years? Also, Marymount 2C+ used to no need ballot but last year it also required balloting. Is my plan too risky?
One more qn is that I understand we need to stay at the registered place for 30month, but given it’s rented, if I have to move house but yet still move to within 1km of the school (or maybe I buy), will it have any issue?
Thanks in advance for the help. -
Just my 2 cents. If u are willing to move house (rental or not), why not apply to a school with an affiliated secondary? Eg CHIJ Toa Payoh.
None of the schools you list have an affiliated secondary. If I were to uproot and move house for a school (and I did), I would choose a school that provides at least 10 years’ good education to make it worth my “investment”. -
In general, schools with affiliated sec are even more competitive. Given we are at round 2c, just trying to either avoid balloting, or try to have a safer backup for 2cs if balloting is not successful. I don’t have much faith on anything needs to try luck.
But let me know if any school might have high chance. -

Well, if you intend to move house, you should secure something that’s more or less a certainty (or at least with viable backup).

RGPS for SC < 1km in Phase 2C is more or less a certainty. Downside is the price of the property that you would have to pay - which may or may not be issue to some people.
Both CHIJ TP and PCPS would likely require balloting for SC < 1km in Phase 2C. However, the odds are probably better with PCPS. Ultimately, it’s a personal choice but given that you gravitate towards RGPS / MCS (girls’ school), CHIJ TP should be a logical option.
Another thing about CHIJ TP, the < 1km zone overlaps quite a bit with MCS and there are newer properties (both public and private) available around CHIJ TP / MCS compared to PCPS (Gem Residences u/c is the only option for new property). That said, MCS < 2km should be a safe option for SC in Phase 2CS and no matter which option you take, you will be ok. -

I agree. For RGPS, if suay suay need balloting <1km and you don’t get it, the nearest feasible backup school is Bukit Timah Primary, which is very far to get to without a car.

For CHIJ Toa Payoh, just rent next door walking distance to the school. Try the <1km balloting (quite certain to have balloting at this distance) and if you don’t get it, Marymount Convent is just a public bus ride down (1-2 stops to near Caldecott MRT) and then walk to school (there’s a shortcut up the hill that plenty of students take).
Trying your luck at the balloting for CHIJ is quite worth it. Their affiliation COP is good (low), even if they raise it slightly over the years. Takes the pressure off your kid’s PSLE. If she happens to score very well, then can go RGS Secondary. Nearby too. -
Thanks all for the suggestion.
Just not sure if Marymount as a backup for 2CS could be still risky. Normally it doesn’t require balloting but maybe because PCPS reduced intake, last year, 2cs took in 11 out of 27 applicants. But I don’t have the data with distance breakdown.
