Hi! What are your views on schools traditionally only have 20 seats at 2B and 2C? What do you foresee going to happen next year particularly in Phrase 2A and 2C? With the changes to home-school distance, does the new changes make 1 ‘easier’ to Phrase 2C given that there are 40 seats now. Am referring to Tao Nan. I do qualify for Tao Nan 2B and 2C within 1km.
      Taonan, likely for 2022 registration
2b - 20 seats (maybe you get 1 or 2 extra that's about it) but about 60-65 applicants now that GRL are free to pick any schools in Singapore <2km of their 1st or 2nd property address

2c - 40 seats (maybe 2-4 extra seats) with 70-80 applicants instead of 40+ applicants. Reason? Those unlucky ones from 2b will join 2c. Nothing to lose for these parents who try. Katong Convent and St Stephens will always be available for 2CS

    • RE: All About Table Tennis

My SG50 boy is taking up table tennis classes 3hours weekly with JTA, didn’t realized the bills only until recently when i’m planning for my retirement and realized i’m spending $600 a month just on his TT classes.

May i know if anyone has feedback with JTA vs STTA?

    • RE: Opinions of the Primary School Registration System

      Very simple solution

      Assuming school have 240seats
Phase 1 take up 120 seats
Leftover of 120 seats to be divided by 3 = 40 per phase
Combine phase 2A1 with 2A2 together into 2A with 40 seats
      Phase 2B also 40 seats
      Phase 2C also 40 seats

Priority balloting for each phase based on distance except Phase 1.

Extend address used for registration to 5yr instead of 30 months.

      Dear fellow parents,

It is my first time on this platform and my wife and I are probably too late into the \"party\" but I still hope to get some advise from parents here.

Our firstborn will be enrolling into Primary school next year and we are absolutely clueless where to apply to, hence would like to seek your advises and feedbacks especially on this 2 schools: Kuo Chuan Presbyterian (1-2km away) and Pei Chun Public School (2km away). We are also >1km away from Catholic High and 1-2km away from Ai Tong (but we can only apply under P2C)

My wife and I are old girl/boy at KCPPS and PCPS, but we did not know or join any alumni so we can only start application at these 2 schools under P2A2. However we cannot decide which to go for and just looking at the school websites does not really give us much idea about the two schools. Therefore would really appreciate any feedback of parents whose kids are already in these schools. TYVM!
KCP confirm can get in at 2A2 >2km
      PCPS >2km must ballot
if u fail, nothing for u at 2B and 2c no schools<1km except mayflower confirm seat

For the Dragon babies, the 3 schools that balloted >2km for 2A1 were:
      - CHIJ St Nicholas Girls'
      - Catholic High
      - Henry Park

Last year (2020 registration for 2021 intake), the 4 schools that balloted >2km for 2A1 were:
      - CHIJ St. Nicholas’ Girls
      - Pei Hwa Presbyterian Primary
      - Nanhua Primary
      - Rosyth

      SG50 and SG51 batch?
      Likely the usual suspects.[/quote]
My bet for 2021 registration for 2022 intake,

      Balloting >2km for 2A1
      - CHIJ St. Nicholas’ Girls
      - Pei Hwa Presbyterian Primary
      - Nanhua Primary
      - Rosyth
      - Ai Tong

      Balloting >2km for 2A2
      - Tao Nan

Hello everyone. Please give some advice.

My SG50 boy is eligible for 2A2 Holy Innocent's Pri but we stay within 1km of Ngee Ann Pri and St Stephens'. Tanjong Katong Pri and Tao Nan are within 1-2km. Except for Holy Innocent's, all other schools will be 2C phase.

Which school should we choose? Should we take the chance of 2C balloting near where we stay or go with 2A2 at Holy Innocent's?

Have not been able to visit any of the schools due to Covid. Does anyone have any insights on any of the schools mentioned above? Any help is appreciated. Feeling very lost as my husband is a foreigner and we don't have any friends/relatives whose kids have gone through pri school registration.
Based on SG49 cohort data this year
Ngee Ann : SC>2km all in, so you are safe. There are more china SPR this year in Ngee Ann, some angmo SPR this year too judging by the fact the whatsapp group started conversing in chinese for a while, the new P is very onz
St Stephens : SC>2km all in, so you are safe
Tanjong Katong : SC<2km all in, SC>2km must ballot, surprisingly mostly locals this year, good mix of local races, Principal very friendly and open to share
Taonan : SC<1km 20-25% chance of balloting in, higher chinese school

i think all the above groupchats are quiet for now, i am still the admin for TaonanSG50, pass my rights as admin for Ngee Ann and Tanjong Katong to my friends.

While you have NAFA gifted pianist cert, other parents also have kids who are groomed to be horseriders, art portfolio, Ballet RAD certs, competitive swimming experience, bowling grooming in making, potential table tennis or badminton player groomed by Jiawei table tennis school or similar, Abacus Mental Arithmetic International Olympiad participation or award. Just depends on how you \"market\" your child.

Good lord do they really? Reading all these threads (plus the GEP one) I feel like my kid is extremely ordinary. (Which is fine, since her parents are also extremely ordinary!)

“Gifted Pianist or Violinist” are very ordinary these days. Almost everyone going for SOTA DSA would have passed grade 8 by p4 or 5 going for diploma around PSLE kind of standard. Better be gifted in extraordinary cca like harp, then again, harp also getting popular these days. I supposed gifted pianist or violinist must be like my friend’s daughter, where he has to accompany her around the world for concerts or President’s charity kind before p5.

How I wish my kids are gifted, alas, only gifted in negotiation for tv rights.

      Dear Parents.

      Seek your advice.

My son is going P1 next year. Intend to put him on the transfer waitlist (2021) for Temasek Primary, Tao Nan School and Ngee Ann Primary. Any advice on how to improve our chances? Many thanks!

We balloted unsuccessfully for Temasek in Phase 2C. Secured St Stephen's under Phase 2CS. He is in NAFA Gifted Young Pianists course (if it is any help).

For GEP schools like Taonan primary,

Transfer will take place, at the end of P3, for good quality candidates (applicants), which Taonan sought after.

Also, applicants ought to possess a good command of Chinese language

Works like this, assuming Nan Chiau and Taonan
Priority 1 - offer to SHHK applicants who failed phase 2b, rank by tenure and hours. Experience by SHHK seniors (1-2yr ago)
Priority 2 - other SHHK interschool transfer Eg. Kong Hwa -> Taonan. Based on experience by my neighbor and fellow SHHK seniors
Priority 3 - siblings whose younger siblings got a seat in p1 lucky draw

While you have NAFA gifted pianist cert, other parents also have kids who are groomed to be horseriders, art portfolio, Ballet RAD certs, competitive swimming experience, bowling grooming in making, potential table tennis or badminton player groomed by Jiawei table tennis school or similar, Abacus Mental Arithmetic International Olympiad participation or award. This year is quite out of norm. If next year onwards still able to register in person when the admin can reveal the stats, 1-2km still stands a good chance.

This is likely to be the case because in the past, balloting only involve SC >2km or 1-2km.
One possible reason for the surge in application this year could be due to lack of P2C application information from school. I would assume that parents who intended to apply their daughter to NYPS may have switch to RGPS for that reason.

if you follow chinese forums, surge in new SC going for RGPS instead of NYPS/Fairfield/HPPS, rather evident by many threads for D'Leedon, Shelford, Watten, <1km for NYPS, overlapping areas for NYPS/RGPS, reviews for RGPS in those forums.
