There are so many things to eat in Osaka and if you're heading to other prefectures or cities, please curate prudently, otherwise you might not have the stomach to eat some famed delights in the same food category in other regions.
In Osaka, you must eat Takoyaki, Okomomiyaki, Pablo, Uncle Rikuro. Osaka okonomiyaki is different from Hiroshima okonomiyaki, so we tried both types. As a beefeater, my priority was to 'attack' Kobe/Matsusaka/Saga beef first, be it yakiniku or western-style. Kansai udon is different from Kanto udon, so I also ate tempura + udon at an izakaya. Save your stomach space for more street food at Kuromon. I ate a big sushi meal inside the market too, after snacking on and sampling more than 20 types of food.
If you are not heading anywhere else after Osaka, can also queue up for Ichiran by Ebisu Bridge, near the Glico billboard. I gave up Ichiran in Dotonbori, but managed to find time to queue for Ichiran in Tokyo.
I saw lots of tourists queuing to enter seafood restaurants selling Fugu sashimi (puffer fish), but I didn't want to take the risk. Different people react to such delicacies differently.
There are several al fresco yakitori joints in Namba area too. Good for supper. I also consumed my personalised Nissin Cup Noodles back in my hotel room at night. Imagine the weight gain!

Nissin Cup noodles - A MUST is all the Jap trips. in hotel room , winter , every supper is Nissin and my local MILO
or Jap green tea ( i still can sleep in night so i think no caffeine)
NOt to forget , to eat kobe/waguy beef in osaka .
oh dear, i din know n din find out can book on line - anyway we always eat popular restaurants during off peak - not much Q . i will take note in future , thks skym & zeit ( u have gd memory for all your trips! , thumb Up
after one trip , i tend to forget n need time to re-do iti if i am re-visiting ... dun think i can recall much abt london now ... next time i ask u again ok ... hahhah

I find osaka gyoza v nice too . forget the name. there are some store in malls , i first tried in itami airport
the store is like our old chang kee style . a red box packaging - ohsho ?
my girl to eat is fried rice n gyoza ! Or ramen n gyoza
Din got chance to eat ichiran ramen in osaka too, but i m gd with the kobe ramen i tried in dontoubori
seem like most food outlets are deli in osaka , no need to look too hard or think too much .. go by mood n by luck

Yes! How can I forget gyoza! Their gyozas are unusually large! I had gyoza in Osaka on the final night too. Another time in Tokyo. We love gyozas! I think their 大阪王将 is different from Singapore's crappy namesake.

Next time you try Ichiran. So much rave out there. I received many real-time PMs and comments on my social media accounts from friends who were also in Osaka that week, asking me to look for this and that restaurant, must try this or that snack, and there were some going a week later, asking me to take photos of some places, to help them to test out the food...I got so giddy trying to hunt for a famous chicken wing joint at Dotonbori for my friend. In the end, I ate some better chicken wings in Nagoya. Nagoya is famous for chicken wings. -

You should try Ichiran. It is good. Kids have been raving about it. We had it on the 1st or 2nd day of our trip and the few ramen places that we went to after that cannot compare.
We ate our way through Osaka and Kyoto. Takoyaki, ice-creams, dango, all the different kinds of beef, oysters, sashimi, uni, crabs, etc. Would have eaten our way through Tokyo as well if we didn't have to fly back earlier due to DS's PSLE posting. -

5. Umeda for the pokemon centre (my kids are fan of pokemon)

4. Kinkakuji temple
5. Nishiki market
6. Ginkakuji temple
Nara
1. Nara park (for the deer)

Will be heading there with my family for 8 days during the september holiday. Do share if I have missed out any amazing place! -
Hello mummyxoxo, Sounds fun! September is not such a fantastic season (cos the trees along the Path of Philosophy [哲学の道] are more for Spring) to see Ginkakuji (銀閣寺), especially given that it is not so centrally located in Kyoto. You would be better off spending that time at Kiyomizudera (清水寺), which is closer to Gion (祇園) & the Shijo (四条) street.
