2010 DSA(Direct School Admission)

Hi all Kiasu Parents out there,

My son is currently in P6 and we want him to get into NUS high school. There seems to be very little information on what kind of questions are asked in the entrance test for NUSH. So, I decided to join this forum and get some help from other experienced parents.
My son is relatively above average student (got 90 in Math and 87.5 in Science in his SA1). He did appear for olympiad but got honorable mention. He also got UNSW certificatons behind him
apart from NUS, please enlighten me on ACS and RI admission processes.

MOST IMPORTANT: suggest some training schools for DSA.

I reached there about 10 plus and there were so many car parking on the road side. Anyway, as directed by the security guard, I drove into gate 3 and park at the temple compound. Then my ds filled up the survey form and one of the question is will the kid go for DSA..so my ds and I were looking at each other and I decided to put down 'currently still in p5' ..After submitting the survey form and collected the goodie bag, we quickly join the next commencing school tour..There were quite a lot of people so feel a bit lost. We followed the tour group to the first destination which was the infocomm and robotics room. MY ds like the robotics presentation..fun..Thereafter the tour leader bring us down to first floor again to show us the science labs and then told us to view the standing posters along the corridor....So I decided to mingle to other places ourselves instead of following the group. We went to the heritage room. Pretty interesting stuffs inside there..then we stand at the atrium enjoyed the performance by the chinese orchestra..nice nice :love: . Wanted to view the uniform group's tents but it was then drizzling so didn't see anyone there so decided to go off as I need to go and fetch my dd...

Sec 1 sec 2 got airconditioning?
I wanna go RI. Too bad I was 1 mark off.

are u in sec 1 this yr....? If u reaally keen in ri.. Wonder if u can try dsa in sec 2/3...

i go there at 8.30 XD ppl were like the open house is still 1/2 hour away what are you doing here?! They were kind leh! Soo helpful ! Just lovee the hand they were wearing ! MY friend in RI was one of the presenters and he gave me the hand

Under the section \"Important Dates to Note:\" --> \"For Year 1 RP\", there are \"Auditions (Music)\", \"Selection Tests (Visual Arts)\" , \"Trials (Sports)\" , \"GAT Sessions \" etc

Anyone here know is there any difference in treatment a student who had gotten into the school via Music, Arts, Sport or GAT etc?

Also, I thought RI has more CCAs than sport, Music and Arts...Not all are being considered for DSA?

Will such a academic centered school ever consider anyone who is good in robotics, but nearly failed maths? No. Music can be taken as MEP, art as AEP, (as acadamic subjects) but there's no Robotics elective.

Students who enter by sports dsa are grouped into 1 class.
