Anyone here choosing between CHIJ Kellock and RVPS for P1 Registration next month?

I’m within 1-2km, not going to waste Ph2C on Radin Mas (over-subscribed).

So choosing between Zhang De & CHIJ (Kellocks).

What are my chances on ZDPS (2C) & CHIJ (2Cs)?

Note that this year, 3 schools in Bukit Merah have cut its available vacancies:


1. Blangah Rise (BRPS) by 30 spots from 120 to 90.
2. Cantonment (CPS) by 40 spots from 210 to 170.
3. Radin Mas by (RMPS) 10 spots from 210 to 200.
and nearby River Valley (RVPS) by 30 spots from 240 to 210.
for total of 110 spots.

4 schools kept the available vacancies the same as last year

Alexandra (APS) remains the same at 210
CHIJ (Kellock) remains the same at 200
Gan Eng Seng (GESPS) remains the same at 180
Zhang De (ZDPS) remains the same at 210.

Taking into account the lower birthrate (7% lower) in 2013, compared to 2012, and just looking at Phase 1 numbers, GESPS, RMPS, ZDPS has relatively lower registrations in Phase 1 this year. Wonder why?

CHIJ Kellock might not go into P2CS this year. It has gone into P2CS in 2015, 2016 and 2017. However in 2018, it has balloting at P2C for SC>2km. Reason might be that they moved into temporary location in 2017 and 2018. In 2019, they move back to original location, however 2018 is also the dragon year registration. For parents who are banking on P2CS on CHIJ as back up plan, there could be higher risk this year.

RMPS has 50 places under 2C, increased from last year (23). 2018 has 65 applications for Dragon kids, so I expect less for this year. So are the odds for balloting (1-2km) good?

CHIJ (K) has 105 places. Possible to get a place in 2Cs if failed at 2C?

RMPS still risk <1km ballot. Better to get CHIJ in 2C.

1km radius is not that big. I don't think there's 50 kids living within 1km...

My guess is balloting for 1-2km. Will wait and see next week...;)

try running around the 1km area (pie r square) and see big or not.

last year 63 kids within 1km. (maybe got some blur 1-2km in it).

dragon year birth is not in multiples of snake. just +- 10%

2017 - 52 within 1km
2016 1km is below 79 available.
2015 - more than 72 within 1km applied.
2014 - 55 within 1km applied.

say what you said is correct. 45 applied is within 1km. another 20 1-2km applied too. 5 for 20 spots. you game for it?

Woa true…application always higher than vacancies. And mostly ballot for <1km…

No chance already.
