If you had looked at the balloting statistics, you would have realised that the school had been balloting only for SCs within 1 km for many, many years already.
Thank you for your reply. Yes, it was quite a shocking call but good thing the I was notified. Makes one wonder that a better way to deal with it would have been rejecting all unqualified-for-ballot-applicantions through online system prematurely, SMS notification. Had I not called back I wouldn’t have known we didn’t stand a chance in the first place. -

As of noon, there were 192 registrants.. 152 Are SCs within 1km. HPS didn't want to reveal the figures. Not helpful since I am pondering if I should drop out of the ballot (MTS) and go HPS at the last min. But since I have no info, might as well stay put and hope for the best.
I went in the afternoon at around 3.30pm and the same information is being given to me... 152 within 1km... however, I did not clarify if these are all SCs. Triple check my address and confirmed it is outside 1km (missed by 2 blks).... and walked away liao....
Cool down and focus your energy to knowing your risk threshold and what is the backup plan. At the rate you are going, your brain going to burst in flames.Lexy\" post_id=\"1924714\" time=\"1564546776\" user_id=\"12180:

Online info shows 175 vs 131. if total is around 144 SC <1km, does this means most likely 31 applicants, who are likely between 1-2km, will drop out and go elsewhere?
Roughly 200 pax havent show face in punggol per the numbers yesterday.
You can call the school directly. Keep it brief by asking which group they are balloting for. The schools I called were helpful.

On Monday, I register my son in Chongfu via online. Yesterday, the school called me and advise me to withdraw due to the demand for SC <1km stands at 140 whereby the supply is 48 seats. She explained to me why it’s wiser to withdraw and register at other school where demand in lower. I took the advise. No point banking on balloting when the demand is so high. If I miss this 2C chance at another school, I will have to compete with other parents for a seat in 2Cs. Therefore, I recommend those parents who registered their child in a school which has high demand to reconsider withdrawing and register in another school with higher chance in Phase 2C. 2 more hours before closing date. Good luck.

The school will only contact those who are > 1km to withdraw, as these people will have zero chance.
For Yishun, plenty of available places < 2km to accommodate those who are balloted out from Chongfu, Huamin and Northland. Thus, people don't mind balloting in those 3 schools even when demand seems high.
From MOE website:
Ahmad Ibrahim Primary School - 32 for 183
Chongfu School - 140 for 48
Huamin Primary School - 130 for 109
Jiemin Primary School - 81 for 85
Naval Base Primary School - 106 for 146
North View Primary School - 87 for 87
Northland Primary School - 236 for 82
Peiying Primary School - 38 for 115
Xishan Primary School - 55 for 162
Yishun Primary School - 43 for 110 -

also for others, it depends on whether their 2nd choice school is still available in 2Cs.

This kind of environment encourages people to chiong for the 3 schools.
