Dear all kiasuparents users,

any recommended school in Sengkang for phase 2C supplementary? Currently left the following school for P2CS:

- Sengkang Primary - 52 students registered
- Northspring Primary - 56 students registered
- North Vista - 56 students registered
- Palm View - 97 students registered
- Anchor Green - 66 students registered

We are staying in Compassvale road and we just informed by MOE today that my kid’s P1 registration is unsuccessful. So just want to check with all the kiasuparents users to see the above primary school which is the best option.

From the list I like Palm View due to its relatively new school building / facilities. However as there is a large development announced nearby I'm concerned about dust and noise issues from the construction. There should most likely be a sound / dust barrier erected before construction begins, which should make it less of an issue.

Another important factor is your distance to the schools. Every 5 minutes saved is 5 extra minutes of sleep/ breakfast time every day.

Thanks mburgg77. Is there any chance for my kid to go back Compassvale Primary school when P2 as the Compassvale Primary school is only located in front of my block. Very sad that my kid can't get in as we are PR.

Are you stay within 1km away from these schools? Try those within 1km so got higher chance without ballot.

Yes, within 1km. But I am Malaysia PR. If balloting i sure don't have chance.

Then I suggest u wait for tonight or tomorrow MOE will update the website to show the 2CS vacancies for all the schools. Then u pick the school that has the highest number of vacancies (could be Palm View or even Valour). Won’t go into balloting.
Hi Zac's mum,

Thanks for your info. Refer to the MOE website, currently there have about 121 vacancies for Seng Kang Primary and 78 vacancies for North Spring Primary school. If like this case if i registered either 1 we still got chance for balloting? If balloting for P2CS, we PR totally don't have chance right?

If i were u i will monitor till 14 Aug, then register the nearest school with the higher balance vacancies. Probably Sengkang Primarily, which is not too far from Compassvale area.

Any student care
Have to monitor closely next week for 2cS. Sengkang primary and north spring should be quite safe as within 1km from ur house and hardly had ballot in 2CS from past records.

Man... all I want to say is DOH! :slapshead:

Ignore my earlier suggestions, register only on the last day. You may need to run up to 3 places - Palm View, North Spring or Sengkang. If all not available, you may have to consider Anchor Green. Pick only the schools with vacancies.

Got into Fernvale Primary!

For many of you eyeing the popular schools, this is ‘ok’ news; but for me it is ‘special’.

We are relatively new to SG, received PR in July this year, just-in-time! We were new to P1 registration process and anxious to secure place in local school!

The MoE website provides all information objectively, but thanks to this forum, that we gain the real help and insights. Out friend circle in SG is limited and we don’t have any elderly or relatives to guide us. It is only this forum that helped us a lot to plan our moves and take decisions.

Here I got the mantra – as PR do not waste 2C chance!

The historical balloting records and similar analysis from experts was extremely useful.

Special thanks to Davischew, Floppy, Zac’s_mum, Lexy for the detailed analysis and truthful posts with ‘authority’. You are true source of guidance and kindness for parents like me!

These are my heartfelt thanks to all in this forum! Wishing good luck to all parents! Cheers!
Congrats.

If you are living in Sengkang West, it could have been a very challenging situation. Good for you that you have secured your school in Phase 2C. Smartest thing to do.

For others, consider that:
Sengkang Green - 147 SC < 1km going for 70 places (+ 77)
Fernvale - 79 for 133 (- 54)
Fern Green - 157 for 164 ( - 7)

Given that Sengkang Green < 1km radius doesn’t extend beyond the river (and encompasses the above 2 schools), there are going to be insufficient places unless some people willingly apply at Anchor Green. Not a good situation for a PR living in Sengkang West to be in (most applicants to SK Green would be SC < 1km).

P/S: for those planning and looking on for next year, a couple more BTOs are going to come online this / next year at Jalan Kayu. With no new schools in neighborhood, expect competition for these 3 schools to heat up next year and in the years to come.

Any student care
for PR, try to avoid the most popular school in that particular phase be it 2C or 2CS, the reason is PR will have lower priority after SC 1km, SC 2km, SC >2km (meaning any SC will have priority first even they live at the end of the other side of Singapore).. So best strategy is to aim for 2nd, or 3rd most popular within 1km of your choice.

ATTENTION: Please do call the school or visit the school on the last day of registration (eg. in the morning) to ensure the status of vacancies in that school. Do consider to transfer to another school of your choice if it's filled up with SC children to ensure you don't end up like what happened to you on phase 2C.

as MOE website indicates, it's not first come first serve basis, so it doesn't matter if you register earlier.. good luck
