Hi Parents,

We need to register my daughter for P1 in 2021 and we are buying a flat at Boon Keng. Hong Wen is the preferred school which is within 1km. As per the history, it required balloting even for <1km for 2C; While other schools within 1-2km i.e St Joseph’s, St Andrew’s also have very low chance to enroll in Phase 2C(S). Need suggestion on backup plan and if fail in 2C, what’s the rules for MOE to assign the kids to? Thanks!

Fail in 2C then go 2CS. Fail in 2CS, then MOE will assign you the nearest school with vacancies.

Thanks Davis. What I meant was that as I stay quite far from Fairfield, it is not my first choice. I am trying to see if I can get her into Hong Wen which is nearer to me but I’m only slightly out of the 2km radius. I’ve applied to do volunteering work for the school and am waiting for their reply.

I guess what I am trying to ask is since Hong Wen application will be under phase 2B, should I be unsuccessful in getting a slot, would I still be able to get my child in to Fairfield based on Alumni/ex-student?

My advice is Hong Wen >2km for 2B not guaranteed and 2C, no chance. Same goes to Fairfield, no chance for 2B and 2C. Best is 2A1/2 Fairfield, further but worth. Unless you have <1km school to consider.
If fail 2B, then go 2C is not for Alumni, it is for public.

You might also want to consider St. Margaret’s or CHIJ Kellock, if you are nearer to central.

HWS PVs are all living within 1km. Sorry for that. Unless they changed principal. For horse and SG babies, they most likely take in 20 PVs just like the Dragon year so that the PVs can \"guarantee\" a place.

We don’t know how many GRLs will be applying.[/quote]The principal said the numbers that he did not know is from Hui Guan and during the first PVs' meeting he will address the 40 hours of PV and balloting issue. Based on the passed 6 to 7 years balloting history while he is the principal, there is no balloting in 2B.
