If you’re a simple home user who has no need to keep your Office applications updated to the latest version, a one-time purchase of Office 2016 might be your best bet, and it includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote. It’s slightly more expensive than a Home 365 subscription, but you’ll never have to worry about renewing payments. You’ll have that Office 2016 forever on your one PC.

Office 2016 will allow lifetime usage of the microsoft documents while Office 365 requires payment for annual subscription. I will opt for Office 2016 if I have to make a choice.

Depends if you want to have the latest functions… like morphing on powerpoint and also autosave function and OneDrive. Personally I like the 365 family as everyone gets 1tb on one drive.

Microsoft’s Office 365 service has been a great deal for a long time, and it’s getting better. Office 365 Home will let six users install an unlimited number of Office applications.
