Guys how does SST select people for their SIE selection test? I know they view all the results first but what do they usually expect from a student. Like do they expect like A* in math and science or just an A can do. Or do they view results and see how the student has improved. Please tell me as I am going to try out for sie😆

I just did prelim. My results are
Maths: 84 A
Science 74 B
English 90 A
Are these acceptable results for a student to get into SST? -

School of SCIENCE and Technology.
I think the name speaks for itself. -
Hmm…but i am actually an A student in science. This time round tho, prelim was kind of hard. So, if my PSLE science got to, let’s say a 85, would they accept me in?

I am actually a 100 pointer student for all my subjects, including the ones that I never take or study for. Every time though, the teachers never set the questions I like. It's not my fault that the results don't reconcile with who I am.

My suggestion is go prepare harder for your PSLE. Target that A and preferably A* first. Worrying whether the school will accept you can come later. -

Hello dear Nethan Nerella

You will do well for your psle, don’t worry. Usually prelims paper were set way tougher.
SIE intake are subject to the availability of vacancy maybe limited to 1 or 2 seat? There are many students on ‘waiting list’ too. Those rejected CO will pass down their seat to the ones on waiting list first.
I believe SST look for potential and capability of a student. My son’s friend scored 230+ and the highest at 260+ for psle.
Right now what you should do is to concentrate on your psle. Then go to as many school open house as you can.
Hope you get into SST. All the best. -

Hello, quick question. I got past Phase 2 of the SST DSA admission process and I am wondering if there is any change to the number of subjects that I can take in lower Secondary as I am interested in taking more subjects like geography and history in lower secondary. Thx!
Hi all.
Would like to chip in and share my experience having my son enrolled (now in Secondary 3) in SST.
With regards to the Humanities question, yes it is a must for all students in Singapore to take a humanities subject at O level. SST offers combined humanities.
O level (Upper Secondary) 8 subject combination is as follows ( double pure science , 9 subject combi is triple science ) :
EL
MTL
Chemistry ( Compulsory per MOE criteria)
Physics/Biology ( Choose 1)
Elementary Math
Additional Math
Applied Subjects : Electronics, Biotechnology, Design Studies, Computing (Choose 1)
Combined Humanities : Social Studies (compulsory) + Geography/History (Choose 1)
Note : Applied Subjects is like POA in other schools except they don't offer POA in SST but rather applied subjects focusing on the application of a field of study in the real world eg. Biotech ( Biology + technology)
For lower secondary, the school tries to introduce students to the interdisciplinary and applied learning approach through other secondary ( though not examinable at O's). More offerings for skills and knowledge building ( more \"breadth\" subjects). Subjects include Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Interdisciplinary Research studies etc.
I personally find SST's approach extremely unique.
The teachers often allow students to venture and use what they have learnt to solve real world problems. They also try to link from 2 subjects together to enhance the learning experience.
I have observed because of these approaches ( projects etc), he has become more confident, more critically aware and more independent.
As some of you may have raised earlier, with CCA commitments and projects, I guess he understands that he has to allocate his time properly with all the things he is in ( CCA , Revision, Student Leadership Boards etc).
I feel that there are a lot of opportunities for students, its whether they want to take advantage of the opportunities present to them . There are also quite a number of Talent Development Programmes/ Interest Groups which adds on to the holistic development experience in my opinion.
Hope this helps!

Of course, getting the kids to be independent is important. Taking bus and mrt and then again/walk will take nearly 1.30 hours each way. If there is a private bus pickup, we can potentially keep it to 1 hour and save some time for the kids that they can spend on other activities of interest to them.
Hey vetshan, we stay in Pasir Ris too. Sst is my child’s dream school and he’s prepared to take the mrt on his own to school Everyday.vetshan\" post_id=\"1932753\" time=\"1567176264\" user_id=\"94236:
Does anyone know if there are any bus arrangements from the East (Pasir Ris) ? My kid got the CO today but need to reconsider due to the distance.
