All About Full-Time Maids

Mine is not young (above 40 years old) and not so well-educated. Her pay was also used to support kids’ education.
Their ethics and values will determine their attitude to work and in turn also how much they can turnaround their families’ lives.
There is no free lunch in the world. High pay, no work. Some may appear to have more, but it may also be due to them being more capable and can manage more with less effort. -
I was offered one age 44 with a set of twin boys back in Philippines. She has worked in other countries taking care of old pple.
I am unsure to take up … -
During the first few months, the helper won’t receive any pay from us due to their loan. Would she ask for an advance of pay? Where do u send for her 6 mth medical check up? How much to budget for her living expenses? Do we need to hv a room for her?

A lot depends on individual girls but still many are stuck with their cultural baggage. There are some girls who wld be open to learning new things & all things good. Yet there are those who are bogged down by their culture habits. Same same with those fr Indo or elsewhere.

for mum's maid, the loan was transferred to us...so every month she received $80 and that would be for 6 months.

we never give advance pay because once their debts are cleared, they would be up to monkey tricks (for most maids)
as for medical checkup, you can bring them to GPs.
MOM wants employers to provide them with a room...but for both my relatives who are prone to falls, their maids sleep in the same room so that they can assist if need to visit the toilet.
the employer would need to provide food & toiletries (shampoo, toothpaste, soap and sanitary pads).
be prepared for higher gas, water usage as well as electricity. -

when mum tele-interviewed asking if she can do without a mobile phone and off day, she said YES.
but she came with a mobile phone. since she did her work well, mum let her use the phone for 2 hours every night but she would need to return the phone every morning. but was reluctant to do so.
this one simply came to singapore to enjoy life...she still has a loan, so I don't think the agency will send her home. -
