SST is a 4 year O-level course, Not 6 years

It is compulsory to take GCE " O level ", at end of Sec 4, in SST.

After compulsory O-level, SST students are free to continue with either Polytechnic education or with A-level Junior College path, depending on the passion (interests) of the students themselves.

SST curriculum is unique, because students here learn the "Applied" Sciences, hands-on approach exploring style. Over and above taking the usual, normal GCE O level National examinable subjects, which all OP students in Singapore are also taking

in addition, SST students have the golden opportunity to take on other additional specialized subjects (examinable in both Theory plus via projects scope assessment), that are related to "Science and Technology" domain.

Over and above giving students the hands-on-approach to explore Science and Technology in greater in- depth scope of work (study),

SST students can also take Higher Chinese, or take 3rd foreign language (German / French / Japanese), if their PSLE results qualify them, to do so

In contrast, NUS High is a 6 year programme, leading to the NUS High Diploma, and subsequently eventually, into the affliated "National University of Singapore" awaiting them, although some NUSH students also choose (prefer) to go overseas university, at the end of 6 years.

For students passionate in Maths and Science, wish to bypass O-level National major exam, they will prefer to choose NUS High. But for students desire a proper O-level certificate, before decide what is the next step forward, they will take SST.

Those who want double degree fast, through accelerated module learning, should go NUS High.

All the questions you are asking should be addressed by the Principal during the parents' talk on A Day@SST. It will be a more reliable and accurate source of information.

        Can parents share more on:

        1) Number of years of course - 4 yrs O level ? same O level syllabus?

        2) Any thru train to A level jc or poly courses?

3)Are the subjects offered O level based with compulsory humanities, sci, math ?
Then what is the big diff in SST and a normal Secondary sch who offers O level ... there are also STEMsci , IT in sec sch etc ... the fees are high ..

SST & NUSH ( lead to nush diploma) - SST which diploma?

        thks for sharing!

                Hi meow37,

                Don’t mention

Hopefully, more students staying your area will sign up for school bus service, add to this list, because if SST targeted intake is 200 students next year 2020 Sec 1 intake, whether these P6 students are given CO or Wait-list, ought to have more than just 2 of you, from Sengkang / Punggol area.

Besides 2020 Sec 1 freshmen interested in school bus service, existing current senior fellow 2020 (Sec 2 to Sec 4) students staying around your area, can also join in for school bus service, add their names to the growing listing

A Day @ SST is for student/parents with CO/WL. MyPillow should attend the school’s annual open house instead for fact finding.

Does anyone know if there are any bus arrangements from the East (Pasir Ris) ? My kid got the CO today but need to reconsider due to the distance.

Hey vetshan, we stay in Pasir Ris too. Sst is my child’s dream school and he’s prepared to take the mrt on his own to school Everyday.

Hi Yayoi and Vetshan, we stay in the east too. Pls add me to the list if you find more people who are thinking of sharing transport together. Thanks!

My boy feels sad to go SST next year w/o his primary school buddies. Is any boy keen to make new friends? My boy enjoys sports such as ice-skating, roller blading, cycling, basketball (recreational player), gaming (with self control; play just for leisure), watching movies, and activities with friends. He used to have fun solving rubik's cubes (5x5 and other weird shapes). He is kind, polite and loyal. We live in the West but location is not a barrier since Singapore is just a small island. Do whatsapp me at 98004598 if you are interested. 😊
