do indon maids (like pinoy maids) demand annual home leave after their 2 years contract ?
Typically they’re not as gangho as Pinos to pull fast ones to demand fr eyers. If u’re fortunate enuf, u get Indos who can cook well, clean well but may take time to rmbr all yr instructions & diff family patterns. If not, u might get those who steal, lie & those who had led a very ‘simple life’ not doing much back home & u’ve to keep giving same instructions & think they’re lazy whilst they’re not initiated enuf to assess that it is gonna to be regular part of their duties.

These days eyers hv more to worry abt such as Pinos taking unsecured loans & strange ppl start knocking on eyers’ doors. Indo helps may land themselves in same trap. Maids these days might get carried away ‘stealing’ for hp time, YouTube time & for Indo maids who might also be overcomes by loneliness & persuaded to find terrorists actitivities.

Having got all the advise from forum contributors, here is my current maid contract. I am planning now how to get rid of her without causing too much drama at home.

        1st contract
1 Jan 2017 – 1 Jan 2019: Completed 2 years contract and took her entitled home leave in Feb 2019.

        2nd contract
1 Feb 2019 – 1 Feb 2021: By right, she will only be entitled home leave upon completing her 2nd contract but maid DEMANDED to be given home leave in Dec 2019 insisting her entitlement to yearly home leave citing the invalid Philippines law as stated in contract (actually agency said this law is not binding in SG)

I intend to buy her a 2 way airticket instead of a 1 way airticket (so that she will not suspect anything) and upon arrival in Changi airport, just tell her that I am terminating her service immediately and compensate her salary for 2 months ie. Jan – Feb 2020.

The next day will call travel agent to cancel the return ticket and cancel her work permit

        Questions:
a)\tOnce airtickets issued, can travel agent cancel the return airtickets ?
b)\tOn what grounds can I write to MOM to bar FDW to work in SG
c)\tIs it against MOM law to terminate FDW on actual day (to protect my family members) without prior notice ?

I think you need to check with her if she wants a transfer. If she wants, you cannot transfer her. If you do, you may run foul of the(ir) law. Please check as this is a recent experience of a friend.

Was planning to send back but had to transfer cos under that 'law', have to give maid the option/ask maid if want to transfer before can send back. Maid elects to transfer so have to transfer instead of sending back.

Based on yr decision, it seems that u’ve seen thro her attitude and want to cut yr losses with her. I do agree that u shld keep quiet abt yr plans, and in fact, u do not need to inform the agent. You can perform WP cancellation on ur own & purchase one-way air-tic online. Come time u’ve arranged to send her back, let her know u’ve bought her ticket to return home.

                1. You do not need to compensate her as her unusual demand has effectively terminated the contract. Philippine so called ‘entitlement of yearly gone leave’ has no effect here unless u had previously agreed to it or it is in yr contract. Pls check. This answers yr c) query.

                2. If you’ve no intention for her return, pls do not waste money getting 2-way ticket, as you’ll not be able to cancel the return ticket for refund. But pls ensure u buy air-tic to incl one check-in luggage. No obligation to get her anything more. This answers yr a) query.

                3. Why do u need to bar her fr returning to SG, unless she had committed a crime or harm tonyr family. Making demands outside of norm can be ignored or terminate the working agmnt. She’s free to return to work for ano family.

Wrt to an of “right to be transferred”, I’ve no working knowledge of this. As far as I’m aware, she may wish to continue in SG, but I are the current eyer and hv the right to terminate or transfer her services to ano eyer. However, if u chose not to as a signal to her & other eyers of attitude issue, u hv the right not to sign the transfer paper, which is provided under the MOM Transfer process. Many helpers tried to find eyers for transfer without realizing their current eyer hv to agree to the transfer. Many had to leave in spite of convincing an family to take her in.

You DO NOT need to tell her upfront u’re buying one-way tic till you send her to airport. That is one way to protect yr family until u make all arrangements for them to be out of sight on day of repatriation.

I wld tell her much closer to departure date, that she gets to go home on x date but u hv not agreed to yearly home leave & explain it is not required for compliance by SG MOM.

In fact there was a pino maid who stole DH items & we made sure my young kids (years back) spend the night with grandparents on a Fri nite. She also acted up, as a treat in defence of her ‘innocence’, in a way abit like your helper.

Booked airtic online sameday (so ive no notice for her to play more tricks), and 3 hours before flight (pls ensure u purchase airtic back to her home country), I asked her to clear her bladder so we can go out on a car ride. Then told the man of the house inform she has to go, whilst I close toilet doors & stand in ready guard. We both got her into car & straight to airport.

Only at the airport did I get her to open her luggage for checking at a quiet corner of airport but more disappointments to find more items belonging to my DH. She tried to lie to DH tt I gave it to her. Imagine boxes of brand new brief! Also my bday gift of Ferragamo necktie to DH was in her possession! We handed the WP cancellation form to the Immigration Officer & kept the WP for return.

We chose to send helper direct to airport rather than use the agent/runner bcoz it is our responsibility to ensure she is seen repatriated (walk pass the Immigration police at departure hall & out of counter into passage towards boarding direction.

My advice for your peace of mind, is to call MOM tmr morning wrt to termination & repatriation issues. Don’t hear it fr the agent, don’t hear it fr any KSP incl myself, but the MOM is your authority.

                Take care SHAWNN.

@ SHAWNN Just ensure that her FDW Insurance is still in force (usually when u first hire her, it is a 26-mth Insurance cover and shld be sufficient)

I do hope you not attempt barring her fr SG employment on mere basis of not wanting to meet her ‘demand’ for yearly home-leave if she didn’t any crime . Just let her go. Tho she can still come back after ano family engage her next year, that’s ano chapter of her life. We hope she wld hv learnt her lesson to be humble and not behave demandingly towards SG eyers bcoz she can’t easily transfer & hv to pay agents to bring her back again. I’m cheeky, I wld make it known to her clearly just before she enters departure hall that Sporeans very law abiding with SG MOM & she don’t need to demand if she is entitled & I do not like her demanding as if she’s abv eyers.

If u need help for runners, I recently used one less than >$100. Pm me directly for contact

That is a recent experience of someone I know.

My last maid was few years back and different nationality.

Not good if caught out by not getting next application approved or in a timely manner.

Please call MOMtomorrow morning regarding your rights & obligation with your current FDW and hear from them yourselves rather than from somebody else’s experience.
