Can anyone share if you match yr maid to the current market rate based on experience of the maid? So assuming fresh fillipino maids $580, those with experience are at least $650?

I’m thinking, if u hv a neighborhood clinic that cost btwn $26-42 depending on what MOM requires for medical checks, shld be OK. You might consider the time running too far for yr helper’s medical. I use SATA.

Is MOM’s requirement on medical check up the same for all FDWs?

Typically, normal tests are for urine (check for pregnancy) & blood (will normally be sent to central blood test centre for various communicable diseases & receive results the following week). The incoming girls’ first checkup will normally incl X-rays (tests TB) hence will cost more (ard $67+).

For those existing tests, I think SATA’s charges is more costly. Ard $41, which incl blood & urine tests only. That’s why I suggests yr neighborhood clinics, but every clinic price varies.

                Hope abv helps.

Indon. 40+ yrs old. No experience, higher education than most with a pretty decent command of English. As a person she is very pleasant. Very pious. So much so that going to church takes precedence over her work.

I am not one who micro manages and I hate to have to repeat myself. I guess it is just not a good fit.

I know of a friend who used to have Indonesian maid. stubborn like crazy.
always steaming Chinese sausages every morning...husband kept quiet thinking it was wife's instruction.
actually it's to fry tulip sausage for breakfast. told her MANY times but just don't get into her head.

Hahaha. Sounds like my helper. Don’t know whether it’s being stubborn or simply absent minded.

The other day, I was furious over a mistake my helper made so I chided her. Helper replied loudly, “Yes, I know mam, how many times must you repeat !?” I was taken aback and told her, “You don’t be rude! Reminded you not to xyz for the past 1.5years, have you listened?”

What to do? Want employ maid, have to close one eye. I look at her good points, e.g. fast worker, v hardworking and her cleanliness level is there. Just tell ourselves, there is no perfect maid.

Maybe try another response \"Yah lor, you also know I say many times but you still do wrongly. You not malu? You see the children. They also no need say so many times to learn. I also malu to say so many times.\"

Haha. So she admits that she knows not to xyz yet did not follow instruction. I would ask her if she knows then why did she not follow instruction?

For my current helper, her not following my instructions has lead to a few near fires, a few times when I was home to discover in time, 2 unsalvageable burnt pots when it happened when I was not around. The dog suffering and having to be on a long course of antibiotics which also means :moneyflies: for us, not once but twice in the short 4mths that she has been with us.

Aside from this issue, the other issue is DH simply does not like her and has been complaining about her a lot and we almost ended up arguing. I have no idea why DH is so unhappy with her. His incessant complains about her gets to me sometimes and I will try to reason with him which ends up him being unhappy with me cos he thinks I am siding with her. Really not worth arguing with DH over a helper. I think this is the bigger reason why I am leaning towards letting her go.

She has her strengths and I appreciate that. She does not slack in her duties and does it rather well. She does have certain OCD tendencies which I find funny and will tease her about it. For her I will let her transfer as I think she can be a good help. She will however be more suited in a household with someone who is at home more.
