I asked DS his thoughts since PSLE is over. He told me is either he exercise WL or he will give up and try for HCI.
I am also considering whether to take the Nush CO or wait for Psle results and try HCI. DS didn’t talk much after each paper. So not sure how to gauge.
He seems confident in the PSLE but I am not sure if his guts feelings are accurate.
So I told him to try taking public transport and gauge the journey himself too before coming to a decision.
But in the event if he cannot get in HCI, he must have another \"favourite\" school in mind. -

We will most likely choose NUSH. I like the curriculum whereby the kids can move at their own pace, and choose to excel in their strong area. And the huge plus point for me is that there is no A level, n yet they are almost secured a place in NUS. I have heard enough of high stress level during JC level, leading to depression. To many of us who has taken A level before, I am sure that's one of the darkest period of our life. And since my son has the chance to skip this option n yet excel in future, why not. Last but not least, they have dedicated, supportive teachers who are always engaging the students. And with the support from NUS n MOE, I think he will have much more opportunity to explore and develop his passion.
Oops...we are out of town for holiday.
Hi Rio,
So your DS is choosing NUSH or RI?
Mine is still thinking whether to exercise the WL or take a risk and rely on PSLE result and try for Hwa Chong.

He has to ask himself whether there is a 250 or 240 school that he is willing to go for because once you give up the CO, it’s not just the next possible school, it could even be the next / next / next school that you have to compromise.

No \"A\" level is definitely a big plus. I see my son rather relaxed in his final year whereas his peers in other schools are preparing hard for \"A\" level. I am very thankful he got into this school indeed.

Rio. Regarding this fun camp, do the school organise it yearly? What is the purpose of this camp? Any idea?
The email to invite students to attend the Newton Fun Camp on the 18 Oct is out. Do check your email and indicate interest by 13 Oct. Mine went to Spam folder, so chk tat as well. -
Have trial the journey last weekend and it took us 1.5hr to and another 1.5hr back. Shacks!
I persaude DS to give up but he said he can try travelling. But this is not a try thing, it’s a 6 yr committment
Will talk to him again…if he still insist, i might need to shift house. I cannot imagine a 12 yr old kid spending 3 hrs on the road daily.
Or anyone got private transport lobang? -

NUSH and HCI is not too far off yah so if choose HCI how much travelling time does it cut? tbh, SG is not too big where travelling time/distance is a concern. NUSH is a specialized school so if your son is selected, it means he has that something special that others may not have. I think if he wants to go, the travelling should not be a stumbling block. Instead of moving cos homes in Clementi are not cheap, have you considered Grab etc? It may not be that costly after all......definitely cheaper than moving. My gals also stay more than 1.5h away from school each way.....but we still send them there regardless......however we fetch both ways lah (before 8 and after 6) so travelling becomes like 0.5h each way.

There is school bus to the school, but not for return as everyone end at different time. Some parents also try to group together and share transport.
