Hi, for ease of reference, according to FrontierPS's information booklet for parents of Y2018 P6 pupils:

NJC DSA categories for that ...

The booklet includes academic domains where applicable, cos under RI, we can find Mathematics, Science, etcetera, categories. Just fyr.[/quote]
      I see
      Thanks sky, for clarification

I do understand mommyNg's view point too, from where she is coming from.

In other IP schools like this year 2019 Raffles Girls Secondary , DSA applicants may have initially applied for English academic domain. But in the end, RGS counter-offered the candidate \"Leadership\" CO, instead of \"English\".

Hence, counter-offer by the school panel of DSA interviewers, does exist.
In fact, wef 2019 this year, both RI and RGS started this new talent, \"Youth Community Leadership\". Last year (2018), this didn't even exist. So, 2019 \"Leadership\" is explicitly defined, as one of the talent inside RGS DSA listing, whereas this 2018 NJC \"STEAM\" was implicitly defined. Could be NJC felt that not enough suitable candidates, back then under \"STEAM\", whereas Sports DSA category (section) may have found enough suitable candidates already ? This was NJC school internal matter decision making, by the panel of interviewers, to decide which is the talent division that is \" lacking \" and in need, to \"park\" suitable candidates, that are a right fit to NJC school culture. Only in 2019, then NJC \"STEAM\" become explicitly listed.

2nd candidate (boy) : from a co-ed neighbourhood \"Rivervale\" primary school (Mainstream), in Sengkang

3rd candidate (girl) : from an \"All-Girls\" mission primary school (Mainstream)

less than 5 candidates turned up for STEAM domain.

Not sure is it NJC selected more than 5, but they did not turn up on Saturday (5 Oct) because they declined offer, accept some other Secondary schools' dsa offer instead (eg. RI / RGS dsa offer), if candidates have multiple offer or on wait-list from other schools

                    Hello All,

I am very new here in the forum and would like to get help for choosing my younger daughter Sec school. her name in the DSA waiting list (English & Humanities) of Methodist Girls school. (by the way, we opt-out from Methodist girls school DSA application)
Now waiting for PSLE result. Just in case if she got enough T-score, what will be preferences for Sec schools 1st option. So question is NJC(IP) or Cedar girls (IP)? NJC is more preferable because it has Knowledge & Enquiry subject. Initially, I had no doubts about choosing NJC but while gathering more information, I saw few negative reviews about NJC, particularly its JC wing. It seems like NJC removed some nice programs/CCA completely and JC1/JC2 is not doing well. because of this I am a bit confused and need help. For my elder daughter, we straight away choose Cedar IP and so for everything is smooth. Now she is in Victoria JC1 Without any major obstacles/issues. it’s clear, that most of the opinions are is based on individual perspective, still is if forum member can highlight on few points which helps us to have more correct preferences for Sec school.
Thank you very much for long reading and sorry for any inconvenience.

For those who went for STEAM selection test at NJC, do u think it is just a show?

I went to ask some experienced parents and they also find it unbelievable for NJC to conduct such test with open ended questions for Hundreds of students and able to screen all to shortlist within a week..
we somewhat concluded that maybe there was already a pre-selection made before hand and this is just an exercise to validate their assessment.. sounds so disappointing
(took this question over, from 2019 DSA thread :

Going forward, future potential 2020 (born 2008, or beyond) DSA applicants for STEAM domain, may want to take note of this point

Some received offer from multiple schools and decided not to accept NJC, some cannot make it. So I think actual numbers is not just 3. My take is, if you like the school, just apply. Since we will never know the exact number of vacancies for each school, for each domain.
