Post mortem on Popular's one day closed door member only sale.

PURE MADNESS... then again, I live up to my reputation by having bought 10 chinese hardcover storybooks earlier at $1 each at the 2nd hand bookstore on 2nd level. So not a total loss of time at bras basah.
 You definitely live up to your reputation!

      Lucky I didn't go too, decided that 25% discount isn't such a must-go. Phew!

Thanks hquek, for the 'post mortem'. I had initially wanted to go there but DH 'warn' me that unless I'm prepared to squeeze with hoardes of people, otherwise better not go. Lucky thing he had the 'foresight' and I ended up buying some stuff (at a leisure pace with short cashier queues) at another Popular bookstore with the 20% discount coupon... :celebrate:
Have to really see if what you buy is worth the crush. If it's nett priced items and you are buying a lot, worth to go EARLY! Queue to enter only started about 11.45am.

I only looking to buy a few assessment books, so only waited for my son to finish the book he was reading (gave him something to do in case he bored - then he got hooked on the book).

How to ask friends to carry back from US/UK? Must buy from bookstore while there, right? Just for info, I once saw Winnie-the-Pooh's Return to the Hundred Acre Wood at the UK airport. It was retailing at £12.99! Can get the same book cheaper at Prologue here.
Well, when pp go US for work, they usually stay quite a few days. US hotels so far very good. I order, and have it sent to the hotel - under name of the guest. It arrives and all my friends have to do is pick it up from the receptionist.

Well, I think only amazon or online webstores offer good price. See the prices at Barnes and Noble I also :!:

But I honestly envy pp in UK....they have bookfairs a lot and those are sooooo freaking cheap! I heard that those bookfairs pp even go to my co's UK office to hold fairs. we don't have that here. 😢

heh heh, what to do? I 'no medicine can cure'. But have to say I'm getting more discerning in the stuff I buy....probably due to lack of space. ran out of shelf space for my chinese books. Got to 'big wind blow' and rearrange my stuff soon to make space.

Oh, I didn't know that, otherwise would have done so myself as I was in UK in Jan this year for a few day... was looking to buy the winnie-the-pooh books. How long does it take for them to send the books to the hotel? My trip is usually not very long... 😐

BTW, were the illustrations in the 2 winnie-the-pooh books that you got from MPH warehouse sale in colour or black n white?

If your account is a NEW amazon account, they may have the PRIME offer. Sign up for it and you get express delivery at no charge. But remember to set it so this PRIME membership doesn't automatically get renewed (you get charged for it after the try out period). Else, I think within the week, the goods will arrive.

the 2 books I got are in one box set. Illustrations in black and white only. But it's hardcover.

                      Hi parents,

MPH is having another sale in June. It will be on 25 June at the Expo Hall. The specific hall is not determined yet. We know about it as we often talk to book suppliers. šŸ˜„
