Busymom:
wondering if it's nicholas on vacation and nicholas on holiday. lemme go check and come back.
O-oh, which 2 stories are the same?
HUH? got chinese version somemore. All in, I think book cover is very important....I'm very shallow and it's one of the first thing to attract me to see if I like what's inside. Plus the author is Goscinny. Am glad I took the risk and buy that first book.

Those days, we got to buy some chinese storybooks during the chinese lessons (at our choice, of course). Maybe our teachers know that we wouldn't be buying on our own.
Book cover? Me too! -

What’s your review on Harry Potter series?
My dd’s classmate lent her book 3 in the series. My dd said it’s very nice & asked me to get the whole series for her. Is Harry Potter suitable for mid primary? From the movies (I’ve yet to read the books), I have the impression its plot seem somewhat ‘dark’ for children. -

A bit paiseh, but then HP is yet another of my craze. It's the one series where I would pay full price just so I can be amongst the first to get it.mummies

Sorry, I'm not that great a judge on whether it's suitable for younger kids. I just know it's a great read. I do know of some pp who cannot fathom why it's so popular and didn't like to read it.
First few books are ok cos the books fairly thin and quite 'tame'. It's the latter few books
- book 4 someone died + a bit of he like she like,
- book 5 teenage angst (the one I hate most),
- book 6 a bit deep (cos there is a bit of unravelling of those past histories), finally
- book 7 (a bit cheem, I had to keep going back as to how it died, and quite many died in the last part).
There's a bit of suggestion about Dumbledore being gay but it's nothing overt. Also, the lovey dovey part also not overt. So you can factor that in your consideration.
BTW, these books available from our trusty library. So can borrow to try first. -
I’m looking for Taoshu series of chinese books, believe they come with dvds as well. Any parents know where to get? Been searching high and low at Popular etc but cannot find.
