      hello!

      i need some advice…

DD in P4 was still doing ok for her Math but this year P5 drop drastically…
We intend to hire a private tutor for her as we really can’t guide her in Math. She refused but willing to go for group tuition instead. I feel that group tuition can’t address her weakness but this seems the only other alternative at this point of time.

I’m thinking other than going for group tuition, maybe can let her do those exam papers.
but will it useful or helpful to her in any way as we won’t be able to explain those questions (paper 2 problem sums especially) that she cannot do since we also can’t do the questions as well.

I can source for the answer online but if i can’t explain to her on the concept, i’m not sure if doing those past years exam papers will help her or not.

      TIA

Out of the 3 most challenging ones circulated online for PSLE 2019 Maths, the pattern question was possibly the most difficult. However, this is a pattern question of moderate difficulty if you were to compare 2018 SA2 papers. The green font shows the reasoning process and the blue font shows the required equations.

Below are similar pattern questions from 2018 SA2 papers.

I have a carton of books and past year papers to give away as my boy has just finished his PSLE

Need you to choose and pick from Toa Payoh

After you choose, you decide how much token you want to give, no obligation.

          PM if you are interested.

There are P4 to P6 textbooks, Composition guide books, Science guidebooks, Maths Olympiad books, music books, undone year 2018 past year papers, undone and partially done assessment books…

Time really flies. While current Pri 6 students and parents can relax after tomorrow, the \"baton\"'s pass on to 2019 Pri 5 kids. 😉

Most Pri 5 kids taking their Oral next week and SA2 three weeks later. Enjoy Children's Day and then step up gear! 😄
陈老师您好,do u think schools will be recycling video clips? Wondering what is the likelihood of them using last month video for the p5🤔

Hi Berlykiasu, I think there's a higher chance of (some) schools using last year's PSLE videos for current Pri 5's SA2 than this year's.

On a side note, one of the school's Pri 5 SA2 oral them was on safety (riding PMD, cycyling) and another school's Pri 5 SA2 compo was regarding boy ignoring Mum's advice not to go out and play soccer despite overcast sky.

I can't see you having much choice. It's best that you buy a book and start learning maths heuristic this coming months so that you guide her.
Onsponge also provide detail working for their workbook so that's also a good investment.
Review her exam papers n determine which topics she's weak in and start working on them during the coming holidays. Sometimes it's as simple as not knowing what the questions are asking for.

I'll go and take a look at Onsponge website.

                      Hi
Maybe can consider small grp 2-3, tutition for her?
From forum posting /fb grp that i read up, most advice is to get a assesment book and go by topic and focus on which topic is weaker...
past year paper only acts as revision or a platform to see more variety of questions.
                      My thoughts...🙂

All current 2019 P5 students, preparing for 2020 PSLE next year

For Maths, besides practise from the

                        (1) actual PSLE past year papers,

                        (2) Top schools' Prelim (SA2) and Mid-year (SA1) papers,

u must also practise more Heuristics, because in school, your class Teacher only ask you to do homework from P6 \"My Pals are here\" workbook, which is clearly insufficient.

                        For Heuristics, u may purchase

Assessment book titled P6 \"Thinking Skills & Heuristics\" by Publisher \"Teachers at Work\", or by below blue book recommended by one parent (monkeysea), to help yourself strengthen Heuristics
