Hi bluepencil, may I know what do you mean by \"post PSLE -bridging \"programme? Is it PSLE to Sec level Chinese?
So far, I have not heard of such programs, unless your kid has CL tuition and has the opportunity to speak the langauge.

      Hi !
Like my DD says a friend went for a chinese tuition after psle for preparing for secondary sch chinese. I don't know what is taught but I guess some continuing chinese is good because at home our chinese is substandard so... and also language is something you have to keep going on, not like math for eg, topic by topic

Hi bluepencil, I think if you are worried about your child's proficiency in CL, then maybe can send your child to some Chinese reading programmes organized by the community centres or some chinese enrichment classes like wushu or callligraphy etc.. ? Your kid will have the chance to speak the langauge while also having fun then just keep wiritng and reading chinese which he/she might it stressful. Let your child have a break too. :hugs:[/quote]Hi sharesharelah
I totally agree. I should look out for some chinese calligraphy lessons!

Just a note, that while it is true that in Chinese calligraphy classes, “the kid will have the chance to speak the language”, the classes do not fit “while having fun than to just keep writing Chinese”. They will actually keep writing Chinese and there is minimal talking, hardly a way to have fun if one has no interest.

Yes my DD continued with piano lesson in Sec 1. She is doing her diploma right now. Not easy to juggle school work, cca commitment, 3rd language and other school activities. But still doable. She just have to learn to learn things faster and try to get more from shorter period of practice.

Yes, also doable even if external interest is strenuous sports or martial arts on top of school sports cca or ug, IP whatsoever.

                Hi parents,

Would appreciate your advises here in terms of the guideline of T-score. For a 240, does it mean on average of 80 marks per subject? I know its very much dependent on the performance of the cohort, but just trying to have a guide if possible. Thanks!

Between 80 to 85. 80 would be at the very low end of things.

probably about 82. If 80, will be more likely 238.

The second half of this episode worth listening:

Many parents help their kids to get the As and A* in academics but I am always looking at how to get kids to get those grades in terms of Happiness.

Children must be allowed to struggle and figure out some life's hard lessons on own instead of being hand-held closely even up to secondary schools / JCs / Unis. Being able to figure out themselves, esp for 'brighter kids', is the key step to realise what one really wants to do in life to be a 'happy' and useful person when he/she grows up.

Follow up about importance of EQ:
