      Hi 0987654321,

Thank you for your long message. Next week, I will have to put in my son’s school choice.
YTSS is his first choice. He is entering via DSA.
Is it true that all SEC 3 Express students are compulsory to take Pure Science and A Maths. What are the subjects combination? Hope you can share some info with me. Thanks!

          Hi,

i have been to YTSS, the discipline is good and the kids really show respectfully to their teacher. I do not know much about Chung Cheng Yishun so I cannot comment on this. Is YTSS one of your considering choice?

            hi chewsy

not sure if your q is directed for me...but i always feel ytss is a better choice.

i do agree tat ytss are better behaved than those fr cchy. tats my personal observation when i see how students behave outside school. i saw couples fr cchy in uniforms that behaved intimately, oso saw others who did not behave tat well based on their actions and dressing. oso i was from ytss, so i still have the emotional attachment. i can oso save transport cost. oso, my child is less keen to go to a sch with focus on chinese culture. i know some of the reasons can be shadow. but ytss and cchy are both academically strong so i need to focus on other areas. πŸ™‚

but last yr cchy has a new principal tat joined. u can see the thread under cchy for info. his profile seems rather strong. n the strong bonus is it is affliciated to nyjc. n nyjc has been doing very well. my times it was just an aver sch.

            whats your views?

              Hi jkids,

I have selected YTSS as 1st choice. As for CCHY I am not very familiar with the school.
Are you considering both schools? I guess both are good and most important your kid prefers which one?

                Hi Chewsy

YTSS used to be 1st choice. Now may reconsider CCHy πŸ™‚

ytss have a talk in my child’s sch. and my child said 97% of O level students(2018) were eligible for JC. I had to ask her many times whether he heard wrongly.

                  can anyone verify this?

I see no reason to doubt YTSS.

That said, being eligible and getting into JC are two different things. To be eligible, one only needs to score 20 points and below for L1R5 - not a difficult ask. However, if the bulk of the eligible students are scoring between 15 and 20, there are not many choices that they can make despite being eligible.

Coz i tot my child night have heard wrongly. during the open house talk, this % is confirmed.

to me, i think 97%(express) is quite high considering the past batches of cop. ccyh 's one is however 91% (express). so that makes me ponder over who can help a student to excel in the end?

re the open house, ytss seems more aggressive as compared to cchy. ytss students are more proactive and warm . cchy 's one are more reserved. but cchy has a nice environment.
