      Thanks Albon.

Your second para resonates with our thoughts as well. We were keen on these two pointers as well, i.e. " wide tertiary admission network and strong internal process to move the school consistently from strength to strength".

Your thoughts combined with those of myrick88 and dyh really helped put things in perspective for us.

      Many thanks.

Hi all, as we are all going in via DSA, in the event the child is not able to cope with the accelerated learning, is he still bind by DSA contract?

Say school also agree he is stuggling to stay afloat scenario.

Based on someone I know a few years ago, usually the school will recommend retention. If parents or the child is not receptive, they can request to change school. But I think the choice of school will be decided by MOE.

Yes, I called up and asked on this.

In the event if the school agree that the child is not able to cope, school will allow him/she to shift back to main stream school. But the school will be decided by MOE (whichever school has vacancy).

My child has a CO from both RI and NUS High. He has a keen interest in Computing other than Math and Science. He wants to go to NUS high. We were ok with his choice, as ultimately he is the one going through the rigours of the curriculum. With news now out that there is going to be a new principal, I want to know, if this changes anything - in terms of how the school will be led in future.
The teachers in Computing are very capable and conscientious. They have been there before the tenure of the current principal.

There has been no changes except that it became a compulsory subject instead of an elective.

Students taking part in Computing Olympiads go to NUS School of Computing for training. NUS SOC also offers undergrad modules for NUS High students. It is just a couple of bus stops away.

Dr Hang steered NUS High for almost 10 years as principal.

Together with the teachers, he had laid very strong foundation at all levels.

We are seeing the fruits of the tremendous effort and hard work put in by all of them. Thank you!

In the event that the child is unable to cope, what makes you think he is able to cope in a mainstream school?

At this stage, you are still having second thoughts and so many concerns? Seriously, just go for it. The worst scenario would be after going through all these hurdles and overcoming all these doubts, and finally convincing yourself that NUSH is the One, they decided not to confirm your WL. The disappointment and sadness could be unimaginable.

kaypoh here..actually what will likely makes us think kids cannot cope leh..some kids could show consistent results to me should be fine already..those that dont show consistent results, we could more or less gauge their absorption rate I guess? and also from what I understand, most kids will be likely at reset button stage for the few new subjects at secondary level..just go for it, school already given offer, another party has reaffirmed the kid's ability..can de šŸ˜„

Yeah, thanks all for the comments.

We have told DS on all scenario and let him have the ownership of this.

We want him to be happy in the next 6 years and will support whatever decision he make.

He told the Daddy to log on and submit for him last night (coz daddy is busy) and told me he will tell me his final decision tonight and I can submit my portion thereafter .
