Yes. Is your DD sec 2 this year at NYGH? Think the school has update the students to start signing up for some SIA projects few months ago, which require participants to form group, submit proposal during Oct/Nov. Some projects require good academic results, teachers' approval, and the final approval on students' proposal- eg. MOE-GEP programs such as Moot Parliament Programme (MPP), Humanities & Social Sciences Research Programme (HSSRP), Science-Math Mentorship Programme, Creative Arts Programme (CAP). My dd signed up for MPP, recently was selected for HSSRP, hence she was in a dilemma of choosing which SIA to go next year.
Besides the MOE-GEP mentorship programs, other SIA include BSP/CLEP. Students can opt for Tier 1, different from MOE scholarship which once accepted by MOE, is a 4-year commitment all tge way to JC2. Students can also sign up for competition-related such as Odyssey of the Mind, WSC debate, etc which if entered final will compete with others internationally, which require travel overseas.
There are also alot of other SIA projects (Can't remember) which no need require early sign-up whereby the school will send to all students next year bah...
Are all these briefed during the Jan meet-parents sessions? -

Btw, I thought Humanities & Social Sciences Research Programme (HSSRP) was offered to some of them in y2 ? Just curious if those students take this in y2, can they take it again in y3?
Odyssey of the Mind (OM) was also offered in y2 but not compulsory. Not sure about the rest though. -

Thànk you! In fact she did not do well compared to last year, but is a blessing that she received invites due to her Humanities/LA subjects. DD have received her Sec 2' EYE's result with a big sweat!

My Sec 2 dd just received invites for this program few days ago for her Sec 3's SIA. According to her, there was about 15-20 of them received this invites. Beginning of this year, she was selected in Sec 2 Humanities Talent Development Programme, which is under NYGH's Humanities Dept. Some students also took part in SIA projects in Sec 2 which was not compulsory (OM, WSC), just for exposure & get ready for Sec 3's compulsory SIA. -
Well done for your gal, GJS!

I am sure your gal has no problem coping lah…let her choose what/where her strengths are as each child is different. If she can take more, stretch her

My DD said that today all the sec 1 were encouraged to try for the CAP programme. Is it common for Sec 2 to take part in CAP? Or usually it is the Sec 3 who get selected?
Really appreciate your advice. -
Read about Sec 2 n all these projects... a bit :nailbite:
