Yes. Is your DD sec 2 this year at NYGH? Think the school has update the students to start signing up for some SIA projects few months ago, which require participants to form group, submit proposal during Oct/Nov. Some projects require good academic results, teachers' approval, and the final approval on students' proposal- eg. MOE-GEP programs such as Moot Parliament Programme (MPP), Humanities & Social Sciences Research Programme (HSSRP), Science-Math Mentorship Programme, Creative Arts Programme (CAP). My dd signed up for MPP, recently was selected for HSSRP, hence she was in a dilemma of choosing which SIA to go next year. 🤷

Besides the MOE-GEP mentorship programs, other SIA include BSP/CLEP. Students can opt for Tier 1, different from MOE scholarship which once accepted by MOE, is a 4-year commitment all tge way to JC2. Students can also sign up for competition-related such as Odyssey of the Mind, WSC debate, etc which if entered final will compete with others internationally, which require travel overseas.

There are also alot of other SIA projects (Can't remember) which no need require early sign-up whereby the school will send to all students next year bah...

      Wow, this looks so cheem.
Are all these briefed during the Jan meet-parents sessions?

Hi Zappy, I don't think specify details are briefed to parents, only mention Sec 3 will take a compulsory SIA Projects. I also know through my dd as the school will send emails to students for sign-up or send to specifc students for invites only.

Thanks for the clarification. Need to check with my DD again.
Btw, I thought Humanities & Social Sciences Research Programme (HSSRP) was offered to some of them in y2 ? Just curious if those students take this in y2, can they take it again in y3?
Odyssey of the Mind (OM) was also offered in y2 but not compulsory. Not sure about the rest though.

Thànk you! In fact she did not do well compared to last year, but is a blessing that she received invites due to her Humanities/LA subjects. DD have received her Sec 2' EYE's result with a big sweat! 😓 Every year have to be so \"ganchiong\" with her promotion. :nailbite:

Thank you for your compliments. So grateful for your kind gesture :snuggles:

Btw, now is my dd's turn for Sec 2 subjects' combi. I remembered you mentioned that your dd took Triple Science rite? How was the Sec 3's papers so far? Manageable since Triple Science also considered heavy content? Which humanities subject your dd take?

My DD said that today all the sec 1 were encouraged to try for the CAP programme. Is it common for Sec 2 to take part in CAP? Or usually it is the Sec 3 who get selected?

                      Really appreciate your advice.
