Hi everyone, i'm a first time poster, kindly bear with me as i learn the etiquette *paiseh*
Actually, if the parents don't plan to return to Singapore in the short term, they should not apply for a place in a school in Singapore during the annual P1 registration for their child. They should write to MOE with proof of overseas work assignment(s) as well as documents to certify that the child will be receiving education overseas. This is MOE's recommended course of action for such cases.qms\" post_id=\"1533440\" time=\"1436087260\" user_id=\"5718:
[quote=\"mashy\"]Oic. Thanks for clarifying. so those who worked for more than 6 years overseas, the space really wasted, esp if it is in a very popular school.
All they need to do is to write to MOE again if they decide to come back to Singapore. MOE will help the child find a place in a school here.
Meanwhile, if the parents want to expose their child to the school environment here, he or she may join in the immersion program meant for overseas Singaporeans. The child is able to attend lessons for a period of two weeks to a month in a local school just like any other kids here.
i've just been posted abroad for 3-4 years, and my son's P1 registration will happen during this time. And because of my absence, i would not be able to volunteer at the RC. While we live within 1km of our preferred primary school, we're still worried that we cannot get in.
Could i please seek advice from the kind folks here?
deeply grateful,

Hi everyone, first time dad here. Wife is a former pupil of NYPS so NYPS is naturally one of our options for our DS.
Would just like to check any parents with kids in NYPS and stays quite a distance away in the east such as Punggol/ Sengkang/ Hougang/ Tampines/ Pasir Ris/ Bedok/ Kembangan/ Eunos/ Geylang/ Paya Lebar/ East Coast/ Marine Parade etc, how do you manage the distance? My main concern is spending too much time travelling, which cuts into rest/play/homework time.
Some additional details about our current situation:
- we stay in Sengkang, drives, and works in CBD area
- we are likely to send our DS to NYPS in the mornings if he ends up there
- our parents and siblings (in Punggol) are unlikely to be able to help take care of DS after school
- we currently have a full time helper whom we trust to take care of DS on her own but unsure if she will continue to work for long given DS will only start P1 in 2025.
- we are aware of a after-school care for NYPS but unsure of its availability and chances of us securing a slot for DS eventually
- we are open to moving but just too many variables (tenure, location, price, size, distance to (school, work, parents), etc) to be able to find a suitable property
Hope other parents here who are in similar situations can share with us their experiences on how they eventually coped!
Thanks in advance!

All,
We are PR and stay within 1km of CHIJ Toa Payoh and are thinking to apply under P2B. If fail in this phase, should we try again in P2C?
Other option is within 1km of Pei Chun but that will be under P2C.
Does anyone know how do PRs fare in these phases? -

I think the prognosis is not very good.
Very unlikely that you will get a chance for CHIJ TP in Phase 2B and definitely no chance for either schools in Phase 2C. -

Zero chance in both. Suggest you go for LOGC in 2B and Marymount Convent in 2C

Sounds like we have to look further than our 1km. Other than OLGC and Marymount, any other suggestion of schools that we can apply under 2B? We think we should not waste a chance in 2B - it feels like we should try before it goes into the ocean of 2C.

Also, read somewhere that we should at least shortlist 3 schools in case of worst case scenario.
