Varies so much on the CCA you join and the activities you choose to participate in. It is largely true that the culture is competitive, but as a former principal once said... 'stop competing, start excelling'. If you join RI, your best bet is to look inwards and use the opportunities to figure out what your passions, strengths and weaknesses are. Anecdotally, those who choose to compete with others in terms of grades and achievements never got very far 🙂

The school culture is quite competitive and since the cohort is big, it's possible to feel distant from each other.

The teachers are really friendly though! Also, thumbs up for the large campus space which makes the learning spaces more comfortable 🙂

Hi. My DS is in RI JC2 next year, struggling in GP and Chem H2. Anybody got tuition near Bishan to recommend? Or East area would be good as well. Thanks.

GCE A-Level Results Release: Class of 2019 Continues to Shine

1 A total of 1272 students at Raffles Institution (RI) sat for the 2019 GCE A-Level Examinations, which is one of the school’s largest cohorts in recent years. This number comprises students from the six-year Raffles Programme (RP), as well as students admitted at Year 5 (JC 1) via the Direct School Admission (DSA) and Joint Admissions Exercise (JAE).

2 The class of 2019 continues to embody the Rafflesian spirit of excellence, achieving a stellar set of results at the 2019 A-Level examinations.

Overall Performance of the Class of 2019

3 98 per cent of students achieved 3 H2 passes, with a pass in General Paper or Knowledge & Inquiry.

4 56 per cent of students offering four H2 subjects scored distinctions in all four subjects. 64 per cent of students scored three H2 distinctions in their content-based subjects.

5 363 students achieved a perfect University Admissions Score (UAS) of 90. In addition, 205 students achieved distinctions in all subjects offered, including H3 subjects.

6 The class of 2019 achieved exceptional performances across the various subjects with 7 out of 10 students scoring Distinctions in Biology, Chemistry, Economics, Geography, Knowledge and Inquiry, and Physics. 8 in 10 students scored Distinctions for Mathematics, and 9 in 10 students scored Distinctions for Literature in English. Rafflesians did exceedingly well at the General Paper, with 57 per cent of students scoring distinctions.

7 Overall, 577 students attained at least 6 Distinctions, 297 students attained at least 7 Distinctions, 70 students attained at least 8 Distinctions, and 3 students attained 9 Distinctions.

8 We congratulate the Class of 2019 on their outstanding all-round achievements. We would also like to express our thanks to the RI Board of Governors, our teachers and support staff, parents and alumni. Their dedication and unwavering support have enabled RI to continue its tradition of excellence and service to the nation.

9 The Class of 2019 has contributed significantly to the vibrant community life at Raffles. We are confident they will continue to grow in their pursuit of excellence and service, and make a positive impact on their community and society, whatever their chosen paths may be.

Class of 2019 was the largest in the recent years because 4 JCs stopped their intake of new students starting in 2018 due to the merger of 8 JCs. RI was told to accept more students then.

Nevertheless, even with a larger cohort than usual, the school managed to do very well. :thankyou: and :congrats:

                        Hi,

Is it possible to change to RI from another IP school. If so, what is the procedure ?
