O-Level Chemistry
-
There are just three main areas a student needs to grasp in order to master O-level Chemistry (or actually, Chemistry at any level). Think of these three things as ‘filters’ that are used singly or together to understand what’s going on.
1. Electronic effects: Where are the electrons and what are they doing?
2. Steric effects: What is the role of shape, size, mass and position of the particles?
3. Math: What is the mathematics to be used, and what does it describe?
You can get the syllabi for different exam boards from the internet, but all of them benefit from this kind of understanding. I once had a class with an average PSLE score of 220, and all of them got As. It is not difficult; it just requires consistent application of these three things. -

hi, checking out the centre n the price seems 'wow' so expensive... is that the market rate to be paid?
for secondary level, $110/lesson for the promotional package. otherwise $120.. this is group tuition... so im not sure if this is market rate.[/quote]Is it really 6:1 small group? 60 per hour is still OK if the teacher is good. -

There's 6-10:1 small group, $100+GST for 2 hour slot.

For S3 and above, individual tuition is around $120-$150 per hour. -
Hi, does any one here have experience or feedback regarding the centre, Math Science Guru. I’m keen to get feedback on their Chemistry tutor, Mr Allen for Sec 3 and 4 Pure Chemistry. Will appreciate any feedback shared here or via PM. Thanks!

Earlier this year, I googled and found this center. And called to speak to them. When I asked about how the different topics in lower sec Science is handled, considering the fact that different schools teach different topics in different sequence, he became defensive and asked me if I was from a rival tuition center, trying to find out how it is done. He said if I were a real parent, I should just sign my kid up to find out. And no, I didnt sign up even though I am a real parent. I recommend you call and speak to him.

Yes, different schools teach different topics in different sequence and level of difficulty. Hence, in order to make the tuition lesson more effective, I would suggest parents to engage a 1-to-1 tutor for your child for lower secondary science. That way, the tutor can cater the school's syllabus and make the lesson more productive.

there are also tuition which updates their syllabus yearly, for small groups. while others based it on the lesson.
i think its better to ask the tuition center first on what lessons they cater. -
hi parents, Dr Aw offers tuition for combi chemistry, Pure chemistry (Sec 3 and 4) and A level H2 Chemistry for JC 1 and JC 2. If you are keen, send us a message so we can redirect you.
