On reporting day, it can be chaotic. They will also be placing u in orientation groups and taking orders for orientation T-shirts etc. Suggest u buy books and uniforms on a separate day if u have the time.
My dh and I separate into two Q line for books n uniform -

For reporting last year, I recall the registration and “welcome to our school” intro in the hall, plus the “classroom session” were done within an hour. After that, you are on your own, whether you want to leave or whether you choose to buy uniforms or books on the same day.
on the reporting day, usually from 8.30am to what time?
For our school, on reporting day last year, there was no class allocation and no orientation group allocation. The reporting was conducted in groups according to alphabetical order of their names. -

The kids were made to sit according to their primary schools. There's some papers on notice boards, listing out the names of the kids & which primary school she's from. The talk In the hall was about 1hr+. Then you are free to go. Some parents went to buy uniform, some went to buy books. Class allocation was informed towards end of the year.
