There are a handful of schools that have a fixed COP. To keep the standard high. Maybe PSLEFrantic is referring to one of those.
I din realised this - what are the sch ?
Even affiliation COP will move - demand vs supply concept ...

Great sharing....

https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/commentary/psle-results-highest-lowest-scores-school-cut-off-points-stress-12103118

Commentary: What I would tell my 12-year-old self about PSLE results

.......

If I could have a conversation with my 12-year-old self, I would tell her that life is a long winding road – there will inevitably be times when you do better than your friends, and times when they do better than you.

Without diminishing its importance as a national examination, PSLE is ultimately a checkpoint, not the endgame.

Your success and happiness will be measured by your grace and resilience in dealing with the many ups and downs throughout life. How you respond to each triumph or disappointment will shape you as a person, friend and parent.

The future, in all its richness and fullness, cannot be defined by a three-digit number.

ACS Independent (IB stream): fixed at 256 (no appeals allowed for IB stream)

Catholic High School (IP stream): fixed at 254?

CHIJ St Nicholas Girls School (IP stream): fixed at 255?
Is this for real?

Sometimes I cant help but wonder why some schools die die follow the previous year COP. My son took his psle in 2017, his score was 2 points off a school he wanted but could not get in. Some schools also remain their COP for quite long, that does not seem to be realistic. Not sure accurate or not.

The answer is simple. Everyone, including everyone here, refers to last year’s COP as a reference when making their selection. As a result, if you are 5 points off, you will never choose the school. If everyone who’s off the previous year’s COP doesn’t choose the school, the COP will never come down. In a way, the COP becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

P/S: if you want the COP to come down, just spread a rumor about the school not producing / principal no good / teachers hopeless. If you can drive enough hysteria, confirm / guarantee / chop the COP will raise like crazy 😂

You mean come down?

My mistake. Boo boo.

ACS Independent, Express stream COP for affiliated boys is fixed at 235.

IB stream can vary year to year. But usually in the range 254-256.

ACSI is real as far as I know.

SNGS also fixed right? They don’t take any pity cases.
Last yr COP 256, as in psle 2017.
Wasnt Cat High 253 for psle 2017?

How can COP be fixed? It should fluctuate with demand and supply.

Is this for real?

Obviously... not true lah.

ACSI historical COP:
2019 - 254
2018 - 256
2017 - 256
2016 - 256
2015 - 252
2014 - 253
2013 - 256
It’s not even same-same.

Likewise for CHS and SNGS.

I know affiliation COP can be fixed, but non-affiliation COP should depend on demand and supply:

Anglo-Chinese Independent's IP COP
2019 - 254
2018 - 256
2017 - 256
2016 - 256
2015 - 252
2014 - 253
2013 - 256

CHIJ St Nicholas Girls' IP COP
2019 - 255
2018 - 256
2017 - 257
2016 - 258
2015 - 253

2013 - 255

Catholic High's IP COP
2019 - 254
