It is definitely hard to resist not to \"follow the crowd\" in NYGH when the peers started to go for selection interview on special programmes & advance subjects. My gal has strong interest in humanities, and was tempted to be in HP class. However, after consider her intensve CCA trainings 3 times per week, her B Div comp. next year, her demanding MOE SIA project next year --- I came to a decision & told her straight:\"No 9 or 10 subjects, No HP, No advance subjects. Just take 8 subjects. You have NO TIME for more than that! \" I cannot imagine more than 9 subjects, -- everyday stay back late in school. Oh gosh!😥😥😥😥

So advanced subjects are taught outside of normal school time? If 9th subject, is the 9th subject normally 3rd language?

No , If taking advanced subject then no need to take norm . Just got to take extra exam. So I think it’s still alright to take advanced subject. As for additional 9th subjects might be other than 3rd lang too. Eg. some girls taking triple sc but keen to take up another humanity like Lit etc

Hi parents, how does a student get allocated to the NYGH School Based Gifted Education class which is described here:

              https://www.nygh.edu.sg/sbge

Can anyone shed some light? Is it based on t-score?

This year, the gep sec 1 students were grouped into 2 classes. I think the school based gifted programme is for the gep students.

Should be around that number for Sec 1 2020 as well.

                      Ah I see. Thank you.

I have another question on the bicultural studies program. I read about it in the \"Secondary School Education\" handbook distributed by MOE. I see that NYGH offers it. Do children enrol for this in Sec 1 or later? Or is there a selection test? How does it work?

Selection is based on sec 2 results and additional selection test (I believe interviews but I don't have the details of how selection is done).
