233 can get into quite a number of secondary schools. I think proximity is important, perhaps u can focus on proximity then Look for the right schools with reference to previous year’s COP.
Very struggling on which school to choose with Boy’s 233. I plan to move house. So location doesn’t matter. Any suggestions?
-
Does anyone know about appeal process for psle? Asking for my relative’s kid. Got one subject really shocking. Specifically, if they appeal, is there a chance t score might come back even lower? Of course, we are hoping for higher, and that subject go up one grade. Tried looking at moe FAQ, but it did not provide details.

There’s a reason why “analysts”
Hello, I am new.
Just want to hear from some mummies here / school of thoughts for sec school with a wide COP vs a smaller range of COP.
~ wide range better/ narrow range
My personal tot: Maybe that wide range, eg. 220-254. Maybe that school only have 1 student 254.
Anyone good in analysing such to interpret?
:thankyou:
would prefer to look at median t-score instead of range of students’ t-scores or COP. You can get the info from MOE’s SIS.
As an example, you can look at Whitley for an example of a wide range of t-scores: 188 to 251 and Punggol as an example of a narrow range: 201 to 233.
Median of Whitley is 207 while Punggol median is 205.
If both schools are of a similar size, Whitley may actually have a stronger cohort despite having a much lower COP.
You can also contrast the above with Guangyang Sec, another school with a wide range of t-score: 188 to 251. Median is 203. If schools are of a similar size, Guangyang’s cohort could be the weakest of the lot, despite having a similar range as Whitley.
The reasons for the above are varied but location, familiarity seems to be a big factor.
P/S: why only mummies can answer? -

You have to appeal though the school. There’s an appeal fee to be paid.
However, I have never known of any successful appeal that manages to change the outcome of the result - original result / paper had already gone though 3 rounds / markers that the likelihood of them making an error is extremely low, almost zilch. -

technically u are incorrect becos ESIS is awarded to Singaporean students who are in the top one-third of the total number of Secondary 1 students admitted to all indep schools. But how this top 3% came about, i suspect it's becos the lowest score for entry into indep school is about 250, n a T-score of 250 is usually top 10%, so the top one-third of 10% is roughly top 3%.ski\" post_id=\"1947746\" time=\"1574384550\" user_id=\"14915:
For your second question, the answer is no. You only get to use ESIS if you go to an independent school.
Hi all, is it true that ESIS is for top 3% scorers? If 261 is the eligiliby this year, then shd be top what per cent? Can anyone advise?
Can check if u are eligible for ESIS and you choose not to go to independant school, will you still get the $2400?
By the way any one knows is it true that only the top 3% get the ESIS? If 26
If u dun choose an indep school, of cos u will NOT get the $2400 becos the purpose of ESIS is to defray the higher school fees of indep schools so as to encourage top students fr financially humble families to apply.
ESIS translate from $350 to $150 monthly school fees in independent schools. -
May I know what is the cut off point to qualify for foreign language this yr? Or is every year the same number?

I’m a newbie to this platform but am glad to find my way here!
My eldest daughter just received her psle results yest, she got 252+2(HMT). For IP, she has very limited choices in the West, will be either SCGS or RVHS. As I’m also new to choosing sec school, appreciate some help…
1) SCGS is an independent school while RVHS is a govt school. One of the key difference i can see would be the school fees, independent is more than 10 folds! Many had shared that there is difference in independent vs govt school (the extra $$$ paid is justified). Any thots to this…
2) If my daughter gets into SCGS IP, does it mean she is confine to go only EJC? Can she request for transfer to another JC at a later stage, let’s say HCI? If this possible, would it be the secondary results be the justification? -

Are you referring to Cat 3 third languages?
