Hi all, how do we know what to buy for their books?
Hi hi... in the book list they listed mandatory items and optional items. However like what Zac's mum said (from experience) you may want to hold back on certain items which are not so crucial. Perhaps you can also ask the school more during \"Admin\" day or during \"Orientation\" day which is coming soon.

      Cheers!

Mandatory items are usually textbooks & exercise books used during lesson time.

Optional items may be used occasionally but likely teachers will not use in classroom.

If yr child is smallnin size, start with maybe 3-5 pairs of socks, so u don’t overstock when yr child outgrown the small ones in their devpt spurt. I maintain 2-3 pairs initially as we wash on a daily basis & very quickly DS outgrown & we had to get bigger size early year. Same with PE Ts & shorts.

Just a tip - for those kids taking chinese, most kids don’t speak Mandarin in their families & will avoid/struggle learning the Chinese language. I purchase the hard copy Chinese dictionary & whenever kids do 理解问答 I’ll get them to read the passage once & underline words they don’t recognize. Train them to look for the word in dicky & read the hanyupinyin. Benefits incl learning origin of meaning (relating to water 水, wood 木, ppl 亻, etc and accustom to strikes in written word. Then re-read the entire passage with better u’stand’g. Read the qns & annotate where he/she thinks part or whole answer wld be found… By P4/P5, u’ll hv a very confident child with better mastery in the Chinese language.

I only started training my child use of electronic dictionary as this is just too easy & if they’ve started using electronic fr lower Pri, they’d hv missed the benefits of learning Chinese strokes fr scratch. Things that provide little effort at young age prevents the child’s brain devpt on the language.

        Hope abv helps.

Thanks for your extremely useful tip. Indeed, we don't speak Chinese at home and my child is currently struggling with Chinese. Is there a specific dictionary you would recommend?

                For P4 (streaming year),

                P5 and P6 (SA1 and SA2 / Prelim ) level Mainstream students ,

are the exam papers content set the same, for both (Maths and Science) subjects, in ACSJ and ACSP ?
                Or different?

There is a \"Buy and Sell\" page under \"General Parenting category.
You might want to post this there.

The blue shorts are identical to ACS Primary’s. Just in case u want to widen your pool of potential buyers.
