Not an easy decision
Thank you Phtthp and Floppy.
I am more familiar with Victoria but probably hv to find out more about CHS/EJC.
I hv no doubt EJC is a good JC but I hv some concerns for my son if he opts for CHS cuz his Chinese is really bad.
But still hv a little time to think through with him.
You can also look at the different special programs and the CCAs that both schools have and see which one would he be more interested in and which one would provide him with better exposure and opportunities?

Ilovelaksa,
Having elder siblings in vjc, what are your concerns that lead you to not want to default choose vjc?
If it is good enough, the brothers can have shared topics for many years to come, isn’t that more precious than new campus? Unless the boy wants to carve out his own niche in a brand new environment… -

Hi ilovelaksa,
We hv no issues with VS and VJC, both schools are great! Previously ds1 chose VS bcuz of affiliation to VJC, that was before they started IP. He didnt like CHS also. He was the first yr3 IP batch. He applied in Sec2 and got in based on his Sec2 results.ilovelaksa\" post_id=\"1948526\" time=\"1574546618\" user_id=\"88602:

Even though he had to travel the long distance to Victoria, he will not hesitate to tell you that he spent the best 6 years of his life there. This is echoed by many of his friends n even my dd1’s friends who were from VS. VJ has a very strong school spirit.
However, this year is different. CHS is now part of an IP programme which leads to a JC with a very capable cohort. Once the new campus starts, I think EJC’s cop will drop.
Many of my dd2’s classmates are aiming for EJ instead of NYJC. The most attractive thing for me is our distance to CHS and EJC.
Ds2 has no preference for any IP as long as he gets a hp when in sec sch lol
Yes you are right the sibs will hv more to share in the future. It will be quite special if they were all from the same JC. If we do go with VS/VJ, dd2 said she will hv to work very hard to get into VJ too. She said she will be so stressed!
Do u (or son) already have any specific A-level subject combination, in mind ?
If Yes, check whether both (VJ and EJ) offer. If both also offer, no issue.
But, if between these two JC, only one offer the combination that u want, whereas the other doesn't, that will guide your decision making
Probably a bit too early still to think about A level subj combi.
But afaik, EJC does offer the common Arts/Science/Hybrid combis. -
Drove pass Bishan park. The new EJC building is really beautiful and the elevated running track is quite amazing.
Heard from my teacher friends that there is a 800 capacity aircon auditorium and there will be escalators! -

My daughter is also a current VJC student lol
Is she one of those with thigh-length skirts, always 30 mins early for the start of her second lesson (wait... was she supposed to be there for the first?), blond hair and results improve from A to B?

Its obvious people know Vjc results dropped.
...
Not even sure whether you have read ilovelaksa post thoroughly. Her son is from VS / VJC, it is obvious she has first hand info in how the school is doing, results and discipline wise.
Pity her. Must have really dreaded those anal school rules.
To get back on topic, I doubt your son will go wrong with either CHS or VS, since you will reap the rewards after the bedding in period for EJC. -

Some jcs dont have hybrid.

Hi everyone,
I’ve been reading the threads. Seems like only a few matters pop into my mind.
Someone kept talking abouit NYJC ? What the shit is this ? This a EJC Networking group.
Another talking about drop out rates. True this a serious matter. But there seems to be no "truths: to be found here.
Now, I wonder whats the purpose of this EJC thread for ?
I’d like to ask questions pertaining to subject Combinations. Are there any parents whose children are in JC1 or JC2 this year of 2019?
Note : Please this questions are only for PARENTS WHO HAS CHILDREN in EUNOIA JC.
My boy going EJC next year. Considering he going into Humanities : History, Literature being compulsory.
question 1 :
Whats the difference between GP and Knowledge Inquiry?
IS KI a heavy subject ?
question 2:
Econs H1 and Econs H2, whats the difference ?
It would be better if any students ( ie the children) are able to answer my questions.
Thanks. -

Your questions are general questions that aren’t unique to EJC. Most parents with kids in / gone thru A Level / with an interest in A Level should be able to address that.

I’m not an EJC parent. But my friend, whose kid just finished EJC told me the “high” number of drop out rates/retention rate in EJC is not true lah. Maybe at most 10-ish if not less, the norm for most JCs. Certainly not the 100+ “someone“ said it to be. So don’t get too worried about this.
