In the current T-score system, posting is based on merit, i.e. the student with higher T-score gets into the school first, regardless of the order of choice he/she puts the school. So for your example, student A will get posted to the school B. The COP of 200 for school B is for previous year while the current year COP will depend on the T-score of the last student admitted into the school. Student B has to wait for other students with scores 215, 214, 213, 212, 211 to be posted first, and if there is still vacancy left for school B, then student B will be posted to school B.
Hi, can I ask if let's say there's 2 students A & B. Student A with T score 216 and student B with T-score 210.
Let's say if the one w 216 applies to School A of COP 220 and did not get in, his second choice would be school B of COP 200.
Student B's first choice is School B of COP 200.
And if they are \"fighting for the last spot\" in school B, will they look at the ranking of the choices? Meaning, will they reject student A with the higher T score because he ranked it 2nd, or will they just look at the T-score, and thus student A will be the one who gets in? -
Thanks! Glad to know the similarities. Congratulations!
Sometimes children have a fixated idea because they do that have all the information (both good and bad).
And sometimes they are insistent about their choice only because they think that their parents are not really listening.
So, listen their thoughts carefully n gather evidence to support what they say. That way, they know it is not about “my” decision versus “their” decision.
If the evidence shows otherwise, then discuss more.
A good friend taught me something this morning, “Sometimes, parents should learn not to be the decision-maker at all. Instead, learn to support the child to make good decisions.
Even if the decision is not as good as u have hoped for, children would feel supported by their parents .”
All the best! Please share your final decision n have u arrived at the end. U may drop a comment in my blog or WhatsApp. Look forward to learn from more families.rawsalmon\" post_id=\"1948899\" time=\"1574643851\" user_id=\"31470:
Thank you for sharing ur story. Ours is very similar to your story, still finding consensus on RI and HCI. Boy wants his first and only choice, HCI. That is why we are still heafache over this and yet to submit online.O_O_Dad\" post_id=\"1948895\" time=\"1574642465\" user_id=\"61178:
Hi, I hope more parents can see the danger of having their decisions dictated by PSLE scores. Hopefully my personal stories can help you to find a decision-making process that suits your family.
I know this article that has a shelf life of no more than 3 days (before 27 November the deadline), but I certainly hope it can go a long way to help more families. Happy reading and have some laughs.

If the COP turns out to hold this year for RGS at 259, then your DD has a chance. You really have nothing to lose by trying becos if u dun get into RGS, u should in all likelihood get the second choice, or in the worst case scenario, the third choice (assuming you went for NYGH or MGS IP in your second choice).
My dd got 259.Any chance to get into RGS? -

Even within IP schools, there may be some prerequisites in Y4 results for taking certain subjects at H2 level. So it's not necessary that it's quite so free-for-all as long as a student is promoted to J1. These prerequisites will differ between schools and the school may change these requirements anyway. Frankly, when choosing a school at Sec 1, I would say that these issues are too far off in the future to agonise over. Go with a school that generally has a decent reputation and you can't go far wrong. There is no perfect school, and although details may differ, when it requires such agonising, the schools are probably pretty much equal in quality.
Like after O levels, you have, is it 12 choices? So you put XJC Sc, XJC Arts. And you get into your 2nd choice which is Arts, so you can only choose the Arts combi. Same as 30 years ago when we choose JC. This, you can understand?jakoh\" post_id=\"1948988\" time=\"1574653274\" user_id=\"151698:
\"When you go in with O levels, you are committed to the stream. Whereas for IP, you can choose any stream as long as you can promote to JC1. Hybrid stream is Sc stream for O levels students, I think.\"
Oh this is foreign to me! Cld u kindly help to elaborate and help me appreciate this point better...thanks!
With IP, when you are successfully promoted to JC1, you can choose any combi, as long as you meet specific subject prerequisite.
Hybrid combis, I think, come under Science. So if you want to do Hybird, and you got your 2nd choice which is Arts stream in my example, then you cannot do hybrid.
This is what I understand, but I can be wrong cos my kid only sec 1. -

Your 6th choice is redundant (and effectively wasted) becos SJI O has a lower COP historically than ACSI O. Maybe can consider swopping 5th and 6th choices, or change the 6th choice to a super-sure safety net choice such as St Andrews.
