you can consider swap your order, around
Put SCGS (IP), before TJC

Once your girl enter SCGS (IP) successfully, no need to select St Nick (IP) anymore, because come Year 5,
whether come from SCGS or from St Nick, all will join the same Eunoia JC

unless you are saying that, u feel more comfortable with Temasek JC (IP), because no matter what, TJC A-level curriculum had been there existing for many years, while EJC only gone through first-maiden batch A-level last year (2018), hence more prudent

And

TJC is much nearer your house, more convenient, perhaps u stay opposite TJC

Yes I’m staying in tampines. At first, we also consider SNGS but after taking mrt, still needs to take bus abt 30-40 min, too long ride. Thus we choose SCGS, more convenient after mrt, just walk abt 5 min?erhmmm but now I’m a bit hesitant to put TJC after heard the comments😂
Btw, for 3rd lang can we change to ..let say Malay fr German after 2 terms if can’t cope?

Thanks. She is more interested in 1st 3 choices. Is our last choice safe ? Not sure if should put another lower COP school just in case ?

If that’s case, why bother with MGS? You should take it out and put something like SNGS OP / CGSS OP as your 6th choice.

Can anyone share how heavy is an IP track as compared to O-level track?

I heard from some friends that IP will take up additional 2 to 3 hours for 3 times a week and the kids go back late almost every day.

I thought IP is supposed to be less hectic academically so that the children has more time to do other things other than mugging for exams?

So how come so much more additional time is needed for IP track every week?

I am trying to understand whether it is better to let my kid to try O-levels first and move to IP in Sec 3 if he can qualify later.

1) First 3 years, back to back graded weekly test, assignments and projects. Plus mid year and eoy exams.

2) Not forgetting CCA three times a week

3) At 4th year, no more weekly tests but still have standard term tests including mid year and eoy. Plus O levels higher Chinese.

Beginning tough, then norm, then numb.

Hi, phtthp had a similar query last year. The Moelc admin's reply was that, you can try, but since you'd need to provide a reason for the change, they could wonder, if you can't cope with the initially assigned 3rd language, how can they be sure you can cope with another new one...

Thks so much parents!![/quote]My daughter is very positive about TJC. She enjoys the school and really like the teacher there as she feels that they are caring. I am also putting my 2nd daughter in the school too. Stayed in Tampines too.
No regrets of putting her and the younger one there. 😊

My gal school instructions is to log in, even if u accepted dsa n no interest in 3rd lang…as nil reply is required.

I think all ip schools may be different in their workload n teachings. Time management is prob more important. My son in chs ip, has dismissal 1.30pm mon/tue/fri, and 2.15pm dismissal on wed/thu. He seldom stays back in school except on cca days (2x a week) or unless got school activities he need attend. Yes, he has more projects compared to the o level, n ip exam may be tougher than o level, but is manageable if u are diligent (hardest part is project coordinating with team members who got different work style n work ethics). He usually does his work till about 10plus evening, sometimes 11 plus…but that is cos he only usually start late like after dinner (he will chill before). He has no tuition apart from hcl which he requested to help in his comprehension. School is only 1 mrt stop away so minimal travel tine wasted. He is not top in class, prob somewhere mid to mid upper. But he is pretty happy going to school (great form teachers). N he is improving his results as he settle in. Just sharing this experience as some parents worry if kids can cope in ip or not. I feel if the kid can get in on his tscore merit n can be self motivated to study, it should most likely not be a problem (unless u are expecting your kid to be top in class type). Another ip school may totally be different, i dunno. But my son (with my help) made a good choice 2 years ago. Secondary school is like another league. We parents are supposed to step back n let the kid run on their own. Of course i will still watch.
