So sometimes you see postings of recommending own tutors ... believe ?

Last time got one posting about one Chinese tuition centre, by a few parents concurrently often praising this centre. That one, I don't quite believe that they are real parents

That's why I am wary of recommending tutor on forum or chat group. But if come to me one-on-one, I will be most happy to help.

Not only academic stuff, cca stuff or sports competitions, parents or kids equally ultra competitive and hush hush about where they train, how many times they train, which competitions they went to, which star coach they consulted .....isn’t it true human by nature is selfish lol....

        Yes, so selfish !

I once asked a fellow school mate P6 parent, for the private tuition Tr telephone number. The parent refused to give me the phone number of this private tutor.

Instead, she asked me what questions do i have for this tutor, she said she can help me to convey messages & qn across. I told her for my child's weakness in subject content : i need to speak to the tutor personally, can't be going through her, qn by qn, right ?
She know and understand the situation, yet she simply refused to give me the tutor's phone number. Very selfish !

(now that dsa over, Psle over, don't mind tell u all these)

What to do? Guess that’s human nature.

Same batch taking the same PSLE exam, there will be some kind of 利益冲突. The same batch of kids will fit the same psle curve!! Tscore is used to rank one kid amongst his cohort.

I guess it’s easier for the seniors to pass down notes to juniors.

I was lucky. I got to know very good piano tr through knowing a mum here. But only after the other mum knows and empathise with my situation then.

That mum got to know the tr through another parent here too. She was trying to pay it forward when she shared w me.

Yup, so normally they take pictures of their notes. Instead of letting people bring home. Also wont want to bring home people’s notes, what if the dog ate it together with the slippers? So take photo.
I think my kid did her notes on word, so if her friends want it, she would just email them (or Google doc share), without the risk of losing her notes or not getting the notes back after lending it to friends. 😉

Bcoz DS didn’t do HCL but qualifies to do in sec and wants to take on the challenge, we allow tuition to strength his foundation & started right in January. During Sept to Dec of Pri sch year, we continued with tutor to keep the engine going & the brains ticking. Thankful coz DS more confident with HCL now.

So, depends on every child, parents might wanna assess if can let go for child to exercise some self-initiative learning.

DS and I are both looking forward to school reopening. DS is excited about orientation camp and making new friends.

And yes, starting tuition for EL and CL in Jan, just like how it has been for the past years. DS will have to cope with new subjects like Lit, Hist, Geo on his own. If he copes well, then we can look at whether or not to cut down/stop tuition.

compulsory Cca start in Sec 1, Term 1

out of 5 days (Mon to Fri)
                      - 2 days \" eaten up \" by Cca,

                      - 1 day, by 3rd language
(can be Malay / Bahasa / Japanese / French / German / Spanish)

                      - 1 day, by Talent development programme

                      - 1 day, some Sec schools made students stay back for HCL after school, if not taught within normal school curriculum hours

If 4 days or 5 days eaten up,
where got energy & time, to attend tuition ?

Not all sec schools require students to stay extra days after school for HCL
