Schools will make an effort to spread out the students, so u’ll find a handful fr same Pri schools but mixed with many other incoming school students.


It’s logical to expect as students fr primary wld hv varying T-score performances. This is so teachers can handle students of similar abilities and for some schools at least one class will be segregated as SGBE class (for those fr GEP & high abilities). In addition, there is an MOE directive to diversify student mix.

Students DSA by domain are spread out to thro’out the cohort, as according to their academic abilities. Also, not all peers fr same Pri sch do MEP, AEP, etc. As for language, again they’re first allocated according to their academic abilities, then those doing languages at diff levels will go for pull out classes (or as some KSP shared - they do after sch).

If enter by Tscore ,
do they tend to put students from the same primary school together, into the same Sec 1 class ?


If enter by DSA ,
they tend to put those successful for the same domain together, into the same Sec 1 class
E.g. (enter by DSA)

MEP (Music Elective programme),
AEP (Arts Elective programme),
Sports,
Bilingualism / Maths / STEM

Last year reporting day in sec one, the very first thing P announce to the new students;
- no same school students will be together
- no same DSA students will be together
- no student will know one another
- no gep/ha class whatsoever
- no birds of the same feathers together
- all students will make new friends with one another

This is music to the ears.

Being noob, I thought why some students already wearing their sec school uniform where the rest still wearing primary school uniforms. Then i realise their primary school pinafore is the same as their new secondary school. Just need to change the school badge will do.

But i have friends same dsa, same pri sch, went to the same sec sch class, 2019 sec 1.
I think they try not to, but some will still end up in the same class cos there are 12 classes and if a pri sch has more than 12...you cant really split them all up.

Forgot to mention students came from 114 primary schools out of over 186 if I remember correctly. Important message behind is leave primary school and psle behind, no need to wear like a trophy.

Somebody mentioned before, on reporting day got so many kids turned up wearing their primary school prefect attire. Sash or tie. Need meh.

For some schools, the prefect attire can be totally different from the normal, which means the student who is a prefect may not have the normal uniform, and no reason for this student to buy the normal uniform for reporting day just to blend in.

And I guess while there is no real “need”, there isnt anything wrong turning up in the uniform that they have been wearing every other day for the past 2 or 3 years? :siam:

I thought just by wearing that elite secondary school uniform, in itself is already like wearing a trophy day in day out. People would have easily guessed the student’s tscore is like top few percent of the cohort, creme de la creme lah.

I’m talking about those whose main uniform is the same, just need to add on the tie or sash or extra badge/pin. Can just leave it out right? Don’t need to haolian. Unless DSA via leadership & teacher needs to verify.

On 23 Dec (Monday) Sec 1 reporting (Registration) day, school instruction was to wear \"Primary\" school uniform.

But if students turn up in \"Secondary\" school uniform, ok, if already purchased \"Secondary\" school uniform in advance & want to wear. In fact, if wear \"Secondary\" uniform to report on 23 Dec, nobody know which ex primary school u from. Only your 2020 Sec 1 Form Tr (FT) know, because of your Report card submitted to FT.

Sec 1, everyone start afresh from ground zero (base zero), just like 6 years ago, when entered Primary 1 (2014)
