Well I think if you are a prefect, please feel free to report in your full school uniform. There is no need to “downplay” or hide, the students who are not prefects have no issues with you being a prefect. Neither do the non prefects feel inferior or embarrassed that they are not prefects. And If name tags are part of the uniform, I actually think the students should put them on, because you are representing your school. Also, if you are a prefect, say with a tie, and you come reporting without the tie, all your pri sch friends will find it super weird cos they have never seen you without a tie for the past 2 or 3 years (unless you are the only one from your pri sch and seriously know no one in the sec sch). Now come to think of it, why would the prefect not want to dress in proper prefect uniform? Does it bother them? Did they actually think they are superior and hence want to be more low profile? So strange,

Is it possible for a student to go to a school whose cop is a bit higher than the student score.

For example if the student score 240 and then the cop is 241 or 246 liddat, is it still possible to get in or is the school completely out of reach even if u place it at ur 1st or second choice

Based on MOE policy, schools will not accept appeal, unless Psle students have met the school's Cut-off-point.

However, at end of (Sec 1 or Sec 2), you can fill up \"Transfer\" application form, apply for Transfer to those schools that you are keen in. Only if school got vacancy arise, they will process Transfer. Meanwhile, whichever Secondary school you get posted to under S1 posting, study hard, do your best. If you manage to Transfer successfully into another OP school, continue to work hard, for your O-level

Alternately, at end of Sec 2,
if u are considering Transfer from OP into an IP school, check your interested IP school website requirements, find out what subject entrance tests are required, plus an interview required.
If successful, you will start IP, in Sec 3 (2022)

Since you have achieved Tscore 240 or above in this y2019 Psle, Congratulations, Nethan, u have done very well ! <clap hand> Keep up your excellent work ! 240 is a good score

            This year, hard to say
If that school u are keen in, whose COP last year ( 241 ) were to drop to (240 or below ) this year, then u can get in

Ha! Like mentioned earlier, bochap, or does not matter. Others might think deeper, but simply, not among kids. Maybe a a casual comment, but nothing big deal enough to cling on one's mind. Be it primary or secondary school, my younger one especially, remove tie, badge, name tag once out of the school. Even as a 2nd Dan, her belt is blackout, no embroidered name and rank whatsoever. Nothing to be ashamed or proud of. This is just her preference.

First impression is that their schedule are hectic that they have to come to tuition straight from school. Similar like when I saw any uniformed students at 8 plus still not home.

For 2020 Sec 1 class allocation,
                  If enter by Tscore ,
do they tend to put students from the same primary school together, into the same Sec 1 class ?

                  If enter by DSA ,
they tend to put those successful for the same domain together, into the same Sec 1 class
                  E.g. (enter by DSA)

                  MEP (Music Elective programme),
                  AEP (Arts Elective programme),
                  Sports,
                  Bilingualism / Maths / STEM

                  Last year reporting day in sec one, the very first thing P announce to the new students;
                  - no same school students will be together
                  - no same DSA students will be together
                  - no student will know one another
                  - no gep/ha class whatsoever
                  - no birds of the same feathers together
                  - all students will make new friends with one another

This is music to the ears.

Being noob, I thought why some students already wearing their sec school uniform where the rest still wearing primary school uniforms. Then i realise their primary school pinafore is the same as their new secondary school. Just need to change the school badge will do.

Actually , it is fantastic primary school uniform can be used as secondary uniform with little alterations. Can't help saying.

design of the pinafore (Primary & Sec), is identical

                    What's different are
                    a) design of the badge,

                    b) pointed collar white blouse (Sec school) worn inside, vs. Rounded collar white blouse (primary school)

Why need to submit primary school report book to secondary school?

They will keep the report book or just see then return back to the students?

S1 Form Teacher (FT) will read your report book content for a while, before return back to you.

But your (Tscore + whether taken HMT or not + from which primary school u come from ) : your FT already know in full detail, because MOE had given the list of students’ names posted to the various Secondary schools’ Principal.
From there, school will decide how to allocate students to various S1 classes.

Students stay inside the same class for two years, Sec (1 and 2), until end of Sec 2 face EOY streaming.
Based on their subject combination allocated by school, students will be distributed / allocated to various Sec 3 classes (2022)

                        Every 2 years, change class

Sec 1 (2020) : no more SA1 (mid-year exam), because school give pupils time to adjust to new Secondary environment, eg. the jump from 4 to 8 subjects, only conduct SA2 (EOY exam)
Thus, S1 is like a "honeymoon" year

when reach S3, schools organize overseas exchange programme to various countries, eg. to Thailand, Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan, Australia, etc

for OP students : after 4 years (O-level), leave school

for IP students : after 4 years, join their affliated IP co-ed Junior college

                        EOY : end-of-year
