80 seats is approximately 3 classes of 27, but eventual number enrolled is probably less than 27 per class.

There were some good reviews at Montfort thread recently. So there are some happy parents. Maybe u can find out more from them about the current numbers and any news of merger? (I’m just making a wild guess here...If it were to ever merge, most likely is merge with St Gabriel’s)

Sometimes a small intake is good, more personal attention. Provided the teachers are good & willing to nurture the kids.

I agree with the small intake. Did some research on canossian catholic and was very much surprised top scorer was around 276-278 and 80% goes to express stream, 5 classes with less than 25 per class

I’m thinking to register my boy to acs junior in 2020 (2021 intake) in phase 2c. Does anyone has the prior year statistics on how many Singapore citizens staying within 1KM managed to get in phase 2c? What is the balloting success rate… all the info online does not show the detailed breakdown by nationality and distance…

53 citizens <1km balloted for 46 seats

Following the trend of more applicants over the years, I expect this year to be even more competitive.

Still thinking if it is worth the efforts And money to rent and move in < 1KM and try my luck… Worse case if balloted out, can I still use my current address to apply for schools in phase 2C(S) and phase 3? Or I have to use the rent address for 2C(S) and 3 ?

I think whether you wish to take this risk, that’s something that you and your family have to decide for yourselves.

Get to know the culture of the school. Will it suit your son(s)? You can ask parents with kids already in the school. Also take a look at the principal’s messages to the parents, eg the slides for her orientation briefing to the new P1 2020 parents are here:

Don’t just blindly go for a school because it is popular. I know parents who rushed for this school but later complained the academics are not tough enough. Or son does not like the rowdiness of the all-boys environment. If your son hates sports, is an introvert type who loves studying and has already been prepped with countless tuition since kindergarten, he will not like this school and will be bored by the “slower” pace in this school. It caters more to the average student. There is hardly any homework. More emphasis on teamwork and bonding than individual competitiveness.

Yes you can revert back to your old address in phase 2CS. You just need to forfeit your lease deposit, move back home & change your IC address back to the old one, showing proof with your ongoing utilities bill.

Phase 3 is for foreigners, not available to citizens.

Any parents know how is SJI ? Heard their sports And CCAs are quite good also..
How is SJI ranked in terms of academics
