P1 registration is very near…I just received the P1 registration booklet from kindergarten today.

Schools available for 2C supp are usually not popular.
If you are going for 2C, then check out statistics for schools which require balloting within 1km like Nanyang and Southview. At least you get a rough idea wat balloting was like for past 2 years. All the best.

Transfer may not be easy as it depends on few factors; vacancy, deemed good enough by school, etc


And transfer of school can be unsettling for the child too.

It is natural to be thinking a lot as the dates draw close, it just show that you care for your child.

guess i should just stay cool... just that i feel guilty that i am not doing anything (my fren is moving <1km to a top school), to get my son to a good school...

actually i tot it is ok to go any school cos if my DS can excel in his study, i can just transfer to a good school (is it easy to transfer?). If DS cannot excel, then just stay put guess the regn date is getting closer... i think a lot again....

We are facing the same dilemma, but you are lucky in the sense that you are using your own add & is >1 km to the school. However, pls look for a backup school as in case cos' DLS is quite popular.

base on past balloting result, chances to getting to nanyang seem higher than DLS...

too bad my place is too far from nan chiau... sigh....

I know P1 registration is getting close, and that stress is building up esp for parents registering for first time. Do your homework, choose your choice school, have a backup plan on hand and be focused. Otherwise you’re going to have a migraine. Since it’s too late to move house now, then consider your options carefully.

I did consider Bukit Timah primary or Keming if my son did not get a chance to go to Pei Hwa then.

I would say look where you are going to stay long term and decide from there. DH and I contemplated moving for school sake, but finally decided against it cos current place is close to mum and MIL - and it's pretty senseless to move away from them just so he can get into a better school.

We're going to monitor the situation. IF choice 1, no balloting within 2KM (happen before, but macham like tio bey bio), we'll go for choice 1 (we're marginally out of 2km). Else, I settle for choice 2.

I know of kids who have to make daily pilgrimmage (seems like it) for long distances just cos the school is popular. But consider when cca etc kicks in, transport arrangements etc are going to be crazy and school bus may not offer the extra transport. SAHP, or don't mind your pri school going home by himself should be able to make it; but I don't have that luxury.

In all, use your 2C chance very very wisely. I myself also shudder to think if I had to resort to 2C supp.

I am still looking a backup school. Initially fixed but someone pointed that the PSLE passing rate is not great for that school. So, now I am still searching for another one. :roll:

I have a fren who is a pri school teacher, she told me that bt timah pri sch consist mainly of those who couldnt get a place into the popular ones in that area like nyps, rgps, mgs, phps... so the standard is not that bad actually, as most of the kids there are quite good too.. It was my backup plan last time too
