When the employer or employer’s mother is murdered, then it is too late to say anything. Then the maid will be given a lawyer and prove that she has a mental problem…she gets jail term while employer mourns the loss of his/her parent. IS THIS FAIR ?

Babies/employer gets poisoned by soap powder or urine. Why are we employers always at the losing end ?

When my brother & I were younger, my mum got a Sri Lankan maid. She was in her 30s, at that age where she is desperate for a man  ...reading Mills and Boons books and the part which will make you PUKE...don't wear undies!!! My brother (about 10 or 11 then) didn't know about this. I told my mum and she decided to send her back bcos she was worried what might happen.

My kids told me they do not want a maid...bcos the maid gets on my nerves and makes me very irate. Daughter said, 'Mummy, don't get maid bcos they love to talk back.'

the don't wear undies part seem to be part of their culture

always heard that maids from that country always got this problem

For their convenience mah.......think harder 😐

            janet_lee,

What is most frustrating is that there are so many people who think that all employers are villains and maids are the victims. There are so many laws protecting the maid, but no laws protecting the employers.

These people really need to be educated about the real situation about maids in Singapore.

You are absolutely right tamarind!!! :salute:

But I got a feeling that whoever set all these laws may somehow knew and heard enough horrible stories. It is just that they have to \"favor\" those FDW more as to keep the good ties between countries. To be fair, the serious crimes are also being dealt with seriously. Just to name a few recent casesssssssssss ..... :x

You are right about keeping the good ties.

The most unfair part was when the maid turned around and accused the dead employer of abusing her. Like in the Bukit Merah case in which mother and daugher were killed by the maid. Then everyone will pity the maid, and everyone thought that the employer got what she deserved ! Who really knows what is the truth ? Why are people so ready to believe the maid ? Because the dead cannot speak for herself.

Indonesian maids are reputed to be liars. That maid claimed that she was deprived of food but police found that she was lying.

That case is really really sad. Mother and daughter died in maid’s hands, then the father lose all interest in life and died as a result. Now the boy is an orphan at such a young age.

Maids who kill their employers always get off the hook when their country appoints a lawyer, then show some evidence saying she has diminished responsibility and so not liable for murder charge.

                    verykiasu2010,

You are very lucky…except for my first maid, the rest lied about everything. I chose not to believe what they tell me, maybe at most believe 20%. HaHaHa.

as a guide we don't want anyone from Jakarta or west java region, or those too experienced one

critically important is to pray for discernment before selecting maids for those who are Christians

I had both filipino and indonesian maids who were liars 😞

My current Indonesian maid is very honest and reliable.
