      Hi NKTan,

Was trying to PM you but it didn't get through. Wanted to say that we are living in Woodlands too. My girl will take MRT from Stevens to Newton then Woodlands.

Will you be attending the orientation coming Tuesday?

Hi all, I am staying in Woodlands and I am trying to figure out public transport options for my gal to travel to SCGS on her own. So far, I only managed to find 2: (1) take train from Woodlands station to Newton station and then change to downtown line and alight at Stevens station or (2) take bus 960e from woodlands bus interchange. If anyone would be able to comment if it’s advisable to take bus to school in the morning? How Long is the travelling time for (1) and (2)? I have heard that the traffic jam can be really bad. If there is another route which saves travelling time, please do share with me.

Lastly, do girls usually have lunch in school before making their way back home on days they aren’t required to stay back? Weird question but my gal is concerned that it’s weird that she is the only one sitting in the canteen, though I think it’s unlikely since there should be CCA going on Everyday...

      Thanks and appreciate any input.

Hi, I have purchased SCGS uniform for my daughter on 23 Dec and I noticed that if we get the dress size with just the right size for the armpit holes, the length would be too short. I would like to find out how do we go about solving it since school is starting next week? I actually got the bigger size for her at the moment but the armpit holes are too big. And the belts too.

And also, any idea if I can get the school jacket from the school bookshop?

        Thanks.
Hi...if u haven’t figured this out already...this problem can be solved by folding in the cloth at the shoulders and sewing a line across, essentially a homemade alteration method. This method will shorten the overall length of the uniform a little bit.

If you don’t want to shorten the length at all, another alteration method would be to pinch in the cloth at the bottom of the arm hole & sew it up there.

        Hope that helps.

Hi, I brought the dresses to a tailor to make the arm pit holes smaller. But due to the pocket, there was a limit to how much the alternation can be.. the tailor says too much alternation will cause the uniform to out of shape. I have not thought about holding and sewing the cloth at the shoulders. The school allows this?

            Thanks.

No reason why the school won’t allow it. The line at the shoulders is quite imperceptible if u know how to fold, sew and iron it.

I used to do that for my own St Nicks pinafore.
