No not DSA. She said something about that day did some quiz in class. I think that’s how she was shortlisted.

Yes, they did a test last week. I believe your girl did well in the test and being shortlisted. Think is train them and prepare them to represent school for competition. She was medalist for math olympiad in primary school?

Oh I see. That sounds like good exposure. Thank you. No she’s just an ordinary student. Not into maths competitions.

May I ask for experience parents if it is better to go for as many CCA trials as possible or just go to those really interested or confident of getting in? Does signing up more auditions makes any different to show the kids’ enthusiasm? Teacher encourage them to try more . What is the purpose of signing on CCA forms for each trial ?

You must put 5 cca choices and your cca choices must be evidenced by cca tchr who saw you durung trial so you cannot anyhow hoot to choose a CCA that you did not turn up for. And unless you are super confident of getting in, my suggestion is to go for as many trials as possible cos its sch chooses you not the other way round. Just to share an example, a sch team table tennis girl who got into the pri sch comps top 16 did not even get shortlisted for TT cca.

In some sports there is a quota to the number of players u can field esp individual sports. You wouldn't want to accept too many players who have no chance to go for competitions or gets very demoralising as you are sitting there watching your team mates train for comps.

My advice is to go attend as many trials as possible. You wouldn't know which one will select you. There's no \"showing kids' enthusiasm\" for signing up only 1-2 ccas trials.

Like what imp75 replied, I know of a kid who signed up as many as 6 trials but only got selected for one. -

Each team consists of not more than 6 players (?).

Therefore, most schools don't usually have more than 10 competitive players across each division (or approx. 5 players per level). While top 16 is a laudable achievement, it may not necessarily be good enough for some ultra-competitive schools. -

Signing on the forms is to show proof that the student attended the trials.

Typically, they'll also take down names of those students who may possibly meet their criteria then match that against the submitted selection forms after the closing date.
Go for those trials which you think you are interested in and those which you think you won't mind being posted to, just in case all your top choices are the super hot CCAs which only have a few limited slots left. Think of it like a mini-DSA
I'm not sure if they still practice the yellow form system this year but last year, if you attend a trial and they are so impressed, they can pass you a yellow form which guarantees your slot and you can immediately submit that and not have to attend any more trials (like a Confirmed Offer).
